    Can't change personalize where new content is stored

    I'd like to change where new files are saved. I went to "System/Storage/Where new content is saved" in the settings, but the only choice in the drop down menu is "Windows C:". How do I change this?I'm using Windows 11.

    :)

  2. Change where new content is saved.

    Hello Martin,

    We apologize for the late reply.

    Windows 10 lets you easily change the default Save location for Documents, Music, Picture and Video files. For steps on how to organize your preferred setting, follow these steps:

    • Open Start Menu.
    • Click Settings, then System settings.
    • Click on Storage in the left pane.
    • Scroll down a bit and find Save locations.
    • There you will see New documents will save to setting and similar settings for Music, Pictures & Videos.
    • Select the location from the drop-down menu.

    For Windows 10 Creators Update v1703, you need to navigate as follows:

    Settings > System > Storage
    > Change where new content is saved.

    Tip: If you are suffering from the low space issues after upgrading, you can use these technique to move Documents and other personal folders from the default system drive to another drive.

    Feel free to post back if further assistance is needed.

    Cannot change where new content is installed

    Hello Nentox888, welcome to the Microsoft community, I'll be happy to help you today;

    I understand that even after changing the location where the new content is saved, the Microsoft Store installs apps on the C: drive;

    Initially I recommend that you check if you are updated with the latest version of Windows 10;

    Press Windows key + i and go to Update and Security;

    Click Check for updates and do ALL pending updates;

    Update apps from the Microsoft Store;

    Open the store and click Library;

    Click Get Updates and wait until all apps are updated;

    Clear store cache;

    Click on the Windows search bar and type: wsreset press Enter;

    Now I suggest you try a trick that might work;

    Change again the location where the new content is saved to C:;

    Then open the Microsoft Store on the application page you want to install;

    Go back to Change where new content is saved and change back to the D: drive;

    Click Apply;

    Go back to the Microsoft Store and click Install;

    The Microsoft Store should now accept the installation on the D: drive;

    Hope this helps, see you soon!
