  2. Miracast conection - Windows 10

My computer can't connect with miracast since I installed Windows 10. The miracast device works with my cellphone and used to work when I had windows 8. The Windows is able to find the device and starts the connection, but returns the error message "Something
    is wrong".

It is interesting because when I start the connection, the device shows a connection at TV, the computer's screen have signs related with HDMI connection, but the connection can't be maintained.

My TV is Panasonic Vieja, my miracast is Wecast, my computer is Dell Inspiron running on Windows 10.

    Can't connect to Miracast

    Hi abalaandrea,

I have a very similar problem. I'm afraid I have no clue what to do about, that's why I'm on the forum, but as I was trying to find anyone who had posted a similar problem to mine, I found your post and it just made me feel a bit better that I wasn't the only one. I thought since you've had no responses yet, that it might make you feel a bit better too to know that there are more of us with the same stupid problem and you're not on your own. No help at all I know, sorry, I hope we both get an answer soon.

    Best regards
    Mark

  5. It's as simple as updating your WiFi Drivers to support "WiFi Direct" in Windows 10 which allows Miracast

    Hi theveterans,
I don't know if this will work for abalaandrea, but I have updated, every driver on my system, uninstalled and reinstalled them several times and it has had no effect on the problem.

Hi the veterans, I'm not sure if you meant me or abalaandrea (the original poster), if you mean me then first let me apologise for hijacking someone else's thread, I have actually posted my own under drivers and hardware. There's also a lot more info there about what I have tried as solutions etc.

  9. I am having problems connecting my desktop to my smart tv.
I have a custom built desktop that I want to connect to my tcl Roku tv.
now the tv has mirracast beta and I am able to connect my phone and tablet with little effort.
when I go to the connect in the action center it tells me that your pc doesn't support miracast, so it cannot project wirelessly.
    how can I make it?

my desktop is windows 10 that I upgraded to from 7.
I bought a Wi-Fi usb stick to try seeing that the desktop didn't have Wi-Fi .

I did that command prompt for my wireless display supported info. here is what is says

is there a way to change the wireless display supported into to yes? would that make it work?
or what do I need to buy to make the pc able to send the screen to my tv?
    a usb transmitter maybe?
    or a usb Bluetooth stick?

    thanks for you help...

    Hi,
I am no sure why this is still a problem. It seems like quite a few users have this issue with Miracast. I have already updated my BIOS and re-installed Windows 10 Pro, with updates to all drivers using the Intel driver update utility. I've disabled firewalls, uninstalled antivirus software and tried to sequentially remove and update my chipset, graphics and wireless drivers (all Intel). I have installed the latest WIDI software from Intel as well. I think I have run out of options and contacted Intel to help further - I will update this forum once I get any further. The funny thing is that Miracast worked for an hour when I first got my computer and then the system crashed. After restoring and going through all the updates, I still cannot connect to my TV (Wireless HDMI Dongle) and consistently get this annoying message "Something went wrong your display couldn't connect". dxdiag shows "Miracast: Available, with HDCP". As you can imagine, this is extremely frustrating.
    Here are my computer specs:
    My computer: NUC6i5SYH
Operating System: Windows 10 Pro N 64-bit (10.0, Build 10586) (10586.th2_release_sec.160630-1736) Language: English (Regional Setting: English)
    System Manufacturer:
    System Model: BIOS: SYSKLi35.86A.0044.2016.0512.1734
    Processor: Intel(R) Core(TM) i5-6260U CPU @ 1.80GHz (4 CPUs), ~1.8GHz

  11. Hi everybody
Same probleme just the day after moving from Windows 8. to Windows 10.
On 31/07/2016, Microsoft Support Verification callnumber 0970019090, with a Microsoft Support Code on verifyme@microsoft.com during an hour and a half we tried everything possible, no solution. Everytime, after connecting, appeared "Nous n'avons pas pu assurer la connection", the same in french as "Something went wrong your display couldn't connect" .
Suddenly the man disepeared from phone, saying he was looking for a solution, letting me with a black screen, he had the power on my machine!
He also had my phone nummer, but did'nt phone again!
    Is he always looking for?...!
I mean, they have at this time NO solution. A Microsoft Product, unable to connect with the new microsoft System Windows 10, without warning before Updating!

I have had this problem at my office for a day or two. The way I solved it was by removing the current Miracast device from my devices and printers, then added a new device. I installed the same Miracast device and it worked within seconds. Hope this helps someone

    Can't connect to Miracast

    Hi there

I suspect this is an ugly DRM problem -- Hollywood / Netflix and other people are getting so paranoid about "Pirating" etc and also with ultra 4K UHD (and soon even 8K UHD) TV available who'se going to sit in a movie theatre with a load of young kids messing around on mobile phones etc during a movie.

Windows 10 seems to have more Miracast etc. type of restrictions than W8 - a get around sometimes is to use a CHEAP (the expensive ones have DRM protection) HDMI splitter and then you might find Miracast "magically starts working again".

Even if you only have or are using 1 HDMI slot on your TV the splitter still works --just leave the second output empty. In this case the splitter simply removes DRM - but you must use the unbranded cheap Chinese ones -- expensive ones keep the protection.

A branded cheap one that works (I use it on a SKY Q box to record programs on to TV via a capture device ) is the NEET powered one -- cost around 17 EUR for 1080p pass thru splitter (2 way) or around 29 EUR for the 4K pass thru.

Neet 2 WAY Hdmi Splitter 3D Full HD 1080P 2x1 HUB Switch BOX Genuine Neet Cables | eBay

for 1080p this works a treat even on SKY Q boxes which are absolutely RIDDLED with DRM. Note UK price includes wallet busting 20% VAT which outside UK / EU you won't have to pay.

All these DRM restrictions don't actually stop piracy or file sharing --they just cause more aggro for LEGITIMATE users --after all you wouldn't expect to be told when you buy a car to only use a particular gas station to fill up would you. !!

    Cheers

I had this problem on an older desktop computer that had a 2nd generation I7 processor and a 2011-era motherboard. The solution was simple. It required upgrading the hardware, primarily the display adapter and the wireless network adapter. My research showed that I needed an Nvidia display adapter that had the "Maxwell" technology and an Intel based network adapter. I was able to resolve all of my Miracast problems by getting an Nvidia Geforce GTX 950 video card and an Intel Desktop Wireless Adapter-AC-7260. After installing both items, Miracast started working.

Is your problem fixed?, this thread seems inactive.
To see if your device supports miracast: press 'start button' and 'p' at the same time if you see 'project to a wireless display' you do have miracast.

    Assuming you have miracast.
Go to settings devices and printers, the connected devices, click on your TV the click remove device.
    restart your computer.
try connecting to a wireless display as above with wifi on, and wifi off
