Windows 10: Can't connect to remote printer

I have never used Kapersky. I use AVG and am pretty sure it is not causing trouble. I will come back after I have tried your other suggestion.

 

I have just now - 22 Aug - when reviewing the thread, which is now on its 6th page ! A number of other people jumped in and you dropped out. I was sorry because I thought your comparison of the registry entries for Spooler were interesting and promising. Oh and I did upgrade from W7 Professional. As you can see I have had lots of help but nothing has solved the problem. I am becoming more convinced that the Spooler is at the heart of the problem and I am wondering if The Failure Actions have something to do with it. Your Registry entry is quite different from mine although we probably both chose Restart the Service in Spooler Properties. Do you think that I could with Regit simply delete the long entry and the computer would supply another code if I picked the actions again in Properties?

 

in Control Panel>Programs there is Device Software for the HP OfficeJet Pro 8600. I was somewhat reluctant to remove it because it is the only printer which the HP identifies as installed and I asked it to install the driver a few days ago and it seemed to do it. But I still could not print on it. I did however try to delete it It started but stopped twice with error messages saying it could not delete. In Device Manager there are two unidentified printers. They cannot be deleted. Uninstall does nothing. No option to remove driver. The option to install driver searches but cannot find one. In Windows 10 Device Manager is not in Control Panel but in Settings. It is as before.
Sorry but no progress.

You're better off uninstalling printer drivers using print management. Type print management in the search box in your taskbar, right click on the "Print Management" desktop app search result and select run as administrator and then uninstall printers within this app.

 

Appreciate your help and advice. I activated Print Management as you described. Problem is that it shows - All printers (0), All Drivers(0), and nothing for Printers not ready or Printers with jobs. Under Print Servers it shows "Daisy" the name of my computer. But under Daisy's sub menu no Drivers, Forms, Ports or Printers and nothing for Deployed Printers. I cannot add a printer because that brings the error message Printer Spooler not running. I could remove Daisy if you think that would help.

The short Answer is NO. I spent a lot of time with Microsoft Chat Help and after some unhelpful suggestions was referred to Level 2. The level 2 operator took over my computer, with my permission, and ran a nonMicrosoft program for about two hours.. It did not help at all and he finally agreed I should go back to Windows 7 and advised me to reinstall from disc. I did not want to do that but found out from someone on the internet that Windows 10 allows to revert to your former program with a few clicks if it is only a few weeks since you changed. That worked perfectly and all my printers work. I have not tried again.Stuart

I also tried in vain to solve the problem with operators of windows desk. The last told me that the problem is solvable but would have to pay. Absurd!!!
Operators Microsoft made me feel good twice to reinstall Windows 10 on windows 10 the first time online, and then to .iso. So I did but without solving the problem, and I lost the chance to go back to Windows 7. I can not afford to do a clean install because I would have difficulty with certain software installed.
If there will be news you'll know.

P.S.: Fortunately, my printer is WiFi and survive by printing from google cloud print.

 

Sorry I couldn't help you. I have also had suggestions from people on Microsoft Community but they are complicated and I have wasted so much time on this problem that I have to get on with other things and I am not convinced that Windows 10 brings so many advantages on the basis of the one computer where the upgrade succeeded.

Appreciate your help but the thread started some nine months ago and I gave up about six months ago and went back to Windows 7. I am not going to start again.
I have however printed out your www.zerodollartips.com file. Thanks anyway.
