Windows 10: Can't eject external HDD

Keeps saying that it's in use even though I can CLEARLY see that the light on the HDD hasn't blinked in awhile restarting explorer then ejecting it used to work, but now I get the same error. And yes, I've checked that there is absolutely nothing running.

Can't safely eject an external HDD

So I had already tried Methods 1,2 and 3, however when trying Method 4 I run into Error 87 while doing "DISM /Online /Cleeanup-Image /CheckHealth", no other problem appeared and the external HDD still cannot be safely ejected. As I´ve said when trying Device Manager a pop up appeared and said that in order to uninstall the HDD I had to reboot the PC and when done the HDD light´s is still on and still can´t safely eject said HDD. I need to point out that I updated my PC the same day this issue appeared.

 

Can't safely eject an external HDD

I used an external HDD to download a game (Forza Horizon 5) and now I can't safely eject it (I get the "Device in use prompt"). Before whenever I turned off the laptop or ejected the HDD the power light turned off but now even when I shut down the laptop the power light stays on. I tried ejection through Disk Manager, through Device Manager and using the Run Command (I got a prompt that said "the device is not removable and cannot be ejected or unplugged") and still can't safely eject. Thanks for any help.

 

Can't Eject External HDD After Upgrade

my windows 10 Home version is 1803, Build 17134.285 after upgrade. however, now i can't eject safely external HDD. i thought it was one of my HDD but then i tried all my HDDs, and they won't eject safely with a message "drive is currently in use ..... ".

no problem with my usb sticks.
