Can't enable Audio Hardware Acceleration - Needed for Soundbar delay.

Hey, I've received awesome help in the past and grateful this service is here to help.
I've got a tricky problem and solving it would be a real big help.

I'm having a common problem with my soundbar, where the audio delays whenever new sounds start playing. It's not lag, the audio is not out of sync, what happens is, say a windows alert sound starts abruptly, the soundbar will fail to play most of it. If I unpause music, and dialog in games. It's like the soundbar skips the first part of the event. It doesn't "catch on" fast enough.
Well right now I'm trying to create tracks for video, and it's impossible to start the song right on the mark.

Well, I found a couple articles that described my problem exactly and the fix for it is to open sound settings, choose your playback device, open properties, and then open advanced. The screen where you can choose the quality and bitrate. At the bottom there should be an option "enable hardware acceleration for this device." and you are supposed to enable it...
But that option is completely missing on my computer for -all- of my playback devices.

I thought I remembered it being there very recently. Was this something that was removed in a Windows Update? I'm willing to use the registry or group policies if needed and pretty familiar. Please help, I can't continue what I'm working on. Thank you.

    :)

  2. Hardware Acceleration

    Hi Gibson,

Thank you for posting on Microsoft Communities.

Provide us the following information to assist you better.

    • What happens when you try to play the game?

    • Do you receive any error message?
Not all computers will support this. Most new computers using NVidia or AMD/ATI graphics cards will not have the ability to change the amount of acceleration through. These options are typically only available on older computers
    or computers using onboard video

Hardware acceleration cannot be increased or decreased. It can only be enabled or disabled. It also depends on the graphics card. Some graphics cards do not support hardware acceleration.

Please refer to these steps to check if the graphics card supports hardware acceleration or not and to enable it:

    a. On the desktop, press
Windows key + X and select Control Panel.

    b. In
Large Icons View, click on Display and click on
Change Display Settings, in the left pane.

    c. Click on
    Advanced Settings.

In the Advanced Settings window, if Troubleshooting tab is present, then the graphics card supports hardware acceleration.

    d. Click on the
Troubleshooting tab and move the Hardware Acceleration slider to
    Full.

    e. Click on
OK and restart the computer to save the settings.

Please let us know if you need further assistance.

    Thank you.

How do I enable Hardware Acceleration?

While trying to install OS2 Warp 4 to a Virtual Machine under Virtualbox, I'm informed that it won't run because Hardware Acceleration is not enabled.

Can someone PLEASE tell me, step by step, how to do this? Show some mercy on me and don't refer me to MS articles I need an engineer to translate.
