Windows 10: Can't enter safe mode

I have gone through previous postings and while the answer seems close to what I need to, they solution does not work.

First of all, I am frustrated by constantly being told my password is bad - yet here I am - finally - bad password and all. What's up with that?

Now to the second most frustrating thing. I am trying to start in safe mode. When I have had Windows ME, 2000, XP, Vista, 95, 98, 6, 7. I could launch safe mode in seconds. Now I have to travel all over the place and finally get a demand for a password. It LOOKS exactly like where I enter my pin, so I enter it. But it won't launch.

So I read on here that I have to enter my Microsoft p/w. Nope. That won't work. Since I had to change my password today (or was told I had to - heh, heh) I decided to try the old password thinking Microsoft may be slow - not a hard concept to accept.

But that didn't work either.

Why oh why is it so hard to do something that in years past was quite simple? Why would I buy another Windows based machine if this is where progress has landed us.

Sorry to let my frustration show through but I'm into hour 5 of trying to delete temporary files and I'm still futzing with defective starting blocks.

Cannot enter safe mode


Hi, My Asus laptop is stuck in a startup repair loop while trying to fix error 0x80070091, I've tried following things:
Use this guide: Startup Repair Infinite Loop Recovery - Windows 7 Help Forums
Use the option 'reset this pc' and tried to use 'system recovery' but all to no avail.
While in this startup repair loop it also seems impossible to enter safe mode. (I've tried to enter safe mode pressing F5 from the startup settings screen). I guess using the tweaking repair program will solve this error (0x80070091) but obviously I have to enter safe mode first. Any suggestions?

Password not accepted in Safe mode

Thank you for posting your query on Microsoft Community forum.

Have you tried all the above steps suggested by Sangeeta Sarkar on September 13, 2015.

I would suggest you to provide some information to help you better.

• Are you trying to login the Microsoft account or the Local account in safe mode?
• Did you try with only safe mode or safe mode with networking?
• What is the critical error you are getting?

If you are using Windows 10. To go to safe mode you have to follow the below steps.

If you are able to go to login screen in normal mode try the below steps to go to safe mode with networking.

• 
  At the login screen click on the power symbol.
  
• 
  Hold SHIFT + Click Restart.
  
• 
  After restarting your system, select the Troubleshoot option.
  
• 
  Select advanced options under
  Troubleshoot screen.
  
• 
  Click on Startup Settings.
  
• 
  Click Restart and follow the onscreen steps to go to
  Safe Mode with networking and check if you are able to login.

Stuck in safe mode in windows 10

Safe mode is intended to help fix most, if not all problems within an operating system, it's not good if we got stuck on it. To correct this, we suggest that you follow the steps below to exit out of Safe mode:

• Open Run command by pressing Windows key + R
  keys on the keyboard and type msconfig in the command box and press
  Enter.
• Under General tab, put a check on Normal Startup option.
• Reboot the system and check if the changes are effective.

Let us know if you are able to exit out of Safe mode with these steps.
