Can't fix a problem(stuck) with the installation of Windows 10.

    Hello, I need some help.

I can't fix a problem with the installation of Windows 10. When I'm going for a clean install, the computer restarts normally and then hangs at the blue logo of Windows 10. I don't even see the 'loading dots'. It just hangs and does nothing, it's so weird. I presume it's a driver/motherboard issue, but I can't find anything about it on the internet.

I have tried the following things:

    • Waiting *Confused
    • USB/DVD installation.
    • Disabling the WiFi-module.
    • Removing all peripherals.
    • Replacing the ram modules.
    • Older builds of Windows 10.
    • Disabling fastboot.
    • Disabling secure boot.
    • Tried the USB at my laptop and it works.
    • Updated the bios to the latest firmware.
    • Crying *cry

    My specs: Asus Z87-PRO GTX 970 16 GB ram ( 2 x 8 )
A couple months ago I could install Windows 10. After using it for a month or two my computer could not start and was hanging at the logo. I reinstalled to Windows 7 and everything was back to normal. Now I want to go back to Windows 10, but the installation hangs at the logo.

    :)

  2. Windows 10 Problem

After I updated Windows 10 today as I was instructed, I can no longer get on the internet. My wifi no longer shows up to click on it. It was working fine until I allowed the install. I have tried restarting the HP Spectre x 369 laptop and the router,
but this has not helped. (I am using a borrowed Apple computer to search for a solution.) I need help to get back online. Can anyone help or tell me who I might contact for help?

I'd say you are right regarding the driver issue.

It is possible that a Windows update has given you an incompatible driver.

Is Safe boot possible? If continuous pumping of F8 is not working, multiple interruptions of the boot process (Ctrl Alt Del) can bring up the menu to select safe boot. There are reports of safeboot not working for Windows 10, though.

You could try using just one stick of RAM, you could have bad memory or a bad memory slot. Memtest takes a long time to tell you all is fine.

Other hardware causing boot time problems is storage - HDs, USB and Optical - these can be swapped, or disabled or disconnected to eliminate them.

Install from either a virtual DVD (mounted ISO, using Virtual CloneDrive etc), or from a DVD or ISO contents copied to the hard drive (you can use 7-Zip for this ISO copy process).

Install from a msconfig clean boot with admin elevation for setup, with no internet connection.

Keep the system as cool as possible, as failed setups can happen due to timeouts caused by heat-induced processor throttling bottlenecks, or cutouts (usually more relevant for Laptops).

I am pretty sure upgrades may work where clean installs do not, because the first phase of setup writes details of the upgraded system into xml files in the Panther folder of $Windows.~BT, and may cache driver files.

Try an upgrade from a working backup if you have one.

Otherwise, reinstall an upgradeable Windows OS that works on your PC, and upgrade it to 10.

I think that even an unactivated 7 or 8x will upgrade to 10 and then activate via digital entitlement, since you have already had 10 on that PC.

Thanks for taking the time for helping me.

I have installed Windows 7 and tried to upgrade. After the first restart, I saw the logo of Windows 10, but I saw no dots. A few hours later I saw no difference and it was still stuck at the logo.

So I downloaded the ISO, made it bootable and updated the bios with the latest firmware. Even then it was hanging at the logo.

My next step was ruling out all the peripherals. I disconnected everything. Even my videocard. Replaced my mouse and keyboard and removed my 2 x 8gb ram module for a single 4gb ram module. Then I went into the bios and disabled WiFi, Soundcard and the LAN.

The thing is, 5 months ago, I had installed Windows 10. Then something happened and I was stuck at the logo. I could not fix it and went back to Windows 7. I just hoped Microsoft or Asus had fixed the problem.

I'm guessing a module inside the motherboard is interfering with the installing of Windows 10 (driver issue) or an update that is inside the newest build of Windows 10.

"Install from a msconfig clean boot with admin elevation for setup, with no internet connection."

I will try that in the morning. I'll let you know if it works! Thanks.

Can't fix a problem(stuck) with the installation of Windows 10.

    I found a solution, I installed Windows 10 x64.

I got a connector on my motherboard, it's called a 'TPU Switch'. It was set on disabled.

Once I put the switch on 'TPU_II' I could install Windows 10. So weird.....................

What TPU_II does is tweaking my CPU ratio and clock speed for an optimal system performance.
