Windows 10: can't get printer to work

I have a cannon 996 printer on a network. It prints ok from two other computers

but one computer will not allow the loading of the Cannon print driver-thus no printing.

It tells me there a problem initiating printui.dll.

I have run(as administrator) SFC /SCANNOW

-results tells me there are corrupted files.

I have run DISM /ONLINE /CLEANUP-IMAGE /CHECKHEALTH

-results tells me files are repairable

I then run DISM /ONLINE /CLEANUP-IMAGE /RESTOREHEALTH

-it tells me System can not find file specified


I have run the above sequence at least three times


there is a log file at c:\window\logs\dism\dism.log

Viewing this log file I can't seem to find out which system files should be

but are not being repaired

Printer isn´t working after latest update.

After the latest update from Windows, my Canon Pixma ip6600 printer isnt working. In Device Manager it shows up as working properly but when I go to print it isn´t listed as an option in any programs. Troubleshoot suggests it´s a USB 2 printer on a USB
3 port and that that´s the problem but that cant be since it worked fine before the update. I´ve tried to uninstall and plug it back in but that doesn´t work either.

his printer has a built-in print server.

What you need to know what ip is being give to the printer. Perhaps you can print a status sheet from the printer.

Then Go to printers in control panel

add a new printer

local printer attached, uncheck automatically detect and install PnP printer

create a new port, select standard tcp/ip port

a new window should open and enter the ip there where it says printer name or IP address (port name then should be also be filled as you go)

and pretty much follow the rest of the steps, you will need to install the printer drivers.


These steps is the easy, but not the right way.

The right way is to use the network option on the initial screw and search for the printer server...but that can be tricky to configure.

How have you connected the printer to your computer? Is it wired or wireless connection?

Method 1: Run Hardware and Devices Troubleshooter

Follow these steps to run Hardware and Devices troubleshooter:

• 
  Press Windows key + X and click on
  Control Panel.
  
• 
  Select Troubleshooting.
  
• 
  Select View all on the top left corner.
  
• 
  Click Hardware and Devices.
  
• 
  Follow the on-screen instruction to run the troubleshooter.
  

Method 2: Uninstall and reinstall the driver

I suggest you to try uninstall the Mouse, Touchpad and Printer drivers check if it works for you.
Follow the steps below:

• Press Windows Key + X key and click Device Manager.
• Right-click on the Touchpad device listed and click on ‘Uninstall’.
• Select the option to Delete driver software.
• Follow the same steps to uninstall Mouse and Printer drivers.
• Restart the computer after its uninstalled.

Try to access the device manufacturer's website and download and install the latest chipset, touchpad and Printer drivers.
