Windows 10: Can't install apps from Store

When I try to install apps from the store, I get this error:


Turn on Windows Update

This install is prevented by policy. Ask your admin to enable Windows Update.

Code: 0x8024500C


However, I am an administrator, and I have remove my device from all GPOs that apply to Windows Updates.


Additionally, the Windows Update settings page shows inaccurate policies applied to my machine. Again because I've removed the relevant GPOs. Is there a way I can see detailed info on the policies that the Settings app is referring to?

I understand your inconvenience. We will assist you to resolve this issue.

I suggest you to follow the steps provided below and check if it helps.

• Navigate to the location,

C:\Windows\SoftwareDistribution\DataStore\DataStore.edb

• Delete everything in this folder.

Note: This shall delete all the Windows Store files and update. You may have to reinstall the updates.

Can't install apps from windows store.


Hi folks,

Anyone else have this problem?
I have tried installing a few apps from the windows store on windows 10, download ok and says installing but then get message "this is embarrassing we can't find app" and nothing, its not on my app list.

The existing ones that were there on windows 8.1 that I upgraded windows 10 pro to seem to work ok.

Any ideas?
