Windows 10: Can't Install HP Deskjet Printer Driver using Third Party Ink?

I seriously doubt that a store would take them back after you open the packs and remove the tape.

 

I have purchased Print cartridges from Staples store in USA, I opened them installed them and returned them for a full refund.

 

but the risk of using 3rd party inks is that the HP printer drivers & utilities may complain that the inks may not be compatible for your printer (which is why it may be a bad idea and authentic HP inks should be used instead).

Ok it looks like the HP inks that the HP Deskjet 1514 printer should use is HP 301 or 301 XL (if the printer is used in Western Europe regions like the UK). If the same 1514 printer was used in North America (like the USA), the HP 61 or 61 XL inks should be used - I've checked these out on this HP web site. And these HP inks are barely dirt cheap (just less than 20 euros I think). The HP 61 black ink is less than $25 in the USA and the HP 61 tri-color ink is around $30 in the USA; again money is not a problem for me as I can afford them.

Kinda tough when HP "regionalizes" their HP inks with relatively new printers. Would be nice if an HP cartridge from one region or country can be used in another, like with my old HP Officejet 6500A printer, which uses HP 920 inks that can be purchased & used in any country.

Btw, the HP 61 & HP 301 inks are also used in my auntie's HP Officejet 4630 wireless printer.

 

Once the pack is opened and the seal is broken how would they know that the cartridge is new and not a old one?

 

I have been using HP inkjet printers for some time.
If the HP printer is not used much then you may as well be using HP cartridges.

There does not seem to be any Firmware update or Full feature driver update for that one.

Mine is a different model HP Officejet Pro, and this is what it says, HP UK:
"This firmware update removes previous security firmware that may prevent the printer from working with certain ink supplies that contain non-HP security chips. Please note that even with this change HP cannot guarantee the quality or reliability of non-HP supplies."
The Firmware update is dated 12 Oct 2016.

The cheeky things do not do this update from the HP printer updater you have to download and do it manually and seems to be only for recent Officejet Pro models.
