Windows 10: cant launch webcam

hi got a toshiba s50-b-15f hd laptop, i cant launch the hd webcam...it was working fine with windows 8.1 but since ive upgraded to windows 10 home i cannot find how to start the toshiba webcam HD ?...any ideas ?...there is nothing on the toshiba website for my laptop...

Hello,

Try launching Camera app and see if this app detects your webcam. If it detects, there might be issue with YouTube. Try with different browser and see if Youutbe can detect webcam on that.

what are you showing in device manager, from my screenshot mines dissabled, you might have a problem device, showing an exclamation mark.

Mine says "toshiba webcam HD"....when I checked the drivers or try to update drivers it says drivers are up to date.odd really cos they are dated 2006?...this is a new latest laptop...Toshiba website has nothing for Windows 10. Even if I uninstall the device and reboot laptop same drivers are installed..

 

And now the really silly bit,
Do/Have you tried the F? key, its F5, on my wifes Toshiba.

On cam mine is migrated with skype

 

so no one has this problem with windows 10 after upgrading from windows 8 ?..basically i need an app to launch the webcam?

Looks like also you have an extra one on there also have check and camera is set in settings for all apps to use it

 

Hello!

The app just enables the webcam to see it is working and take some photos. You don't need it to operate the webcam. Load Skype or whichever software you want to use the webcam in and check if it is enabled automatically. In Skype, after you sign in, go to settings, video settings and you can confirm it is working by watching the picture in the live window. If you want to take photos from the webcam, you can find third-party utilities, otherwise you shouldn't need the webcam application.

 

What is the Unknown device, in your screenshot, it has a problem marker on it.
And the unsigned driver edevmonsys, i believe is part of Eset AV, but as to why its there is another question,
do you have any restriction rules for the webcam.

the unknown device is something to do with bluetooth and yes you are right the unsigned edevmonsys is part of eset.i havnt a clue how it got there , its in the system 32 folder , i tried to delete it it but it womt let me...only way is if i uninstall eset nod 32 antivirus..

 

Uninstall the Eset antivirus, restart your computer and reinstall it. This should install all components again and fix the unknown driver. Did you try if the webcam is activated in Skype?

 

i tried skype and camera works fine...uninstalled skype and the camera app was still there as a tile on the desktop, its working fine now..thanks.
