  1. Can't Pull Out USB-C to Displayport Cable From Monitor End?

Cable Matters USB C to DisplayPort Cable (USB-C to DisplayPort Cable/USB C to DP Cable) Supporting 4K 60Hz Black 6 Feet - Thunderbolt 3 Port Compatible for Macbook Pro, Dell XPS 13/15 & More:Amazon:Computers & Accessories

I bought this usb-c to displayport cable not long ago because i was getting another monitor to have 2 monitors. That monitor did not have hdmi so i had to buy this cable. I have a dell xps 15 9550 laptop and have 2 monitors both are 24' and 1920x1200 resolution. One of them i connect from hdmi to hdmi. The other monitor is an asus 24' monitor that i used the usb c to displayport cable to connect it. This is what i bought.

Thus i have 2 monitors connected to my dell laptop. When i got the cable, i plugged it in and it works good. However, last time when i tried to unplug the usb-c to displayport cable from the asus monitor... i could not pull it out. Its like stuck and i did not want to use a lot of strength to do it. Also when i did this, the monitor seemed to not power on and was worried i damaged it but it was the power cord being a bit loose.

Has anyone here ever had this happen before? Thus my other monitor... which is hdmi to hdmi, very easy to pull out the cable from either my laptop or the monitor's end. But with the usb-c to displayport... i cannot pull out the displayport cable from my monitor's end. Of course the usb-c part from my laptop is easy to unplug.
Does anyone know what im doing wrong here? The usb-c to display port does say hold to release etc but whatever i do, i cannot unplug it for some reason.

    • Has anyone here got the same cable as i do? Are displayport cables harder to pull out than hdmi cables?

    :)

Monitor Recommendation for Dual Monitor with Displayport, HDMI, DVI

For only $8 difference, I would go with the USB-C to Displayport cable. It will be much easier to connect/disconnect and a lighter cable, much better for use with a laptop. HDMI to HDMI for one monitor and USB-C to Displayport for the other monitor.

  3. Monitor Recommendation for Dual Monitor with Displayport, HDMI, DVI

    Anyone?

Okay so if im going to buy the asus monitor i posted which has displayport, dvi and vga and NO HDMI...

which cable should i buy then?

    $7 Hdmi to Dvi cable?

Amazon.com: AmazonBasics HDMI Input to DVI Output Adapter Cable - 6 Feet (Latest Standard): Home Audio Theater

    $15 usb-c to displayport

    Amazon.com: USB C to DisplayPort Cable 4K@60Hz, CHOETECH USB 3.1 Type C to DP Cable Thunderbolt 3 Port Compatible with 2017 iMac,MacBook Pro,Dell XPS 15/13,ChromeBook Pixel,Samsung Galaxy S9/Note 8/S8(4ft/1.2m): Computers Accessories

The one thing that would concern me a bit is... would the hdmi to dvi cable support 1920x1200 on my asus monitor? My laptop resolution is 1920 x 1080. The samsung monitor i use is 1920 x 1200 and i connect hdmi to hdmi and it is that resolution. But i also have usb c to hdmi cable. So if i buy the hdmi to dvi cable, then i would use the usb c to hdmi cable for my samsung monitor right?

I know vga is very bad. But is dvi okay? Or should i use displayport? I know vga is very old but isn't dvi basically hdmi? So can someone suggest which cable i buy with the monitor that i will buy which won't have an hdmi port? Or should i just pay more for that other asus monitor with hdmi port instead.

Can't Pull Out USB-C to Displayport Cable From Monitor End?

Monitor Recommendation for Dual Monitor with Displayport, HDMI, DVI

To go from HDMI on computer to DisplayPort on monitor, you need a powered adapter such as this:
Amazon.com: HDMI to DisplayPort Converter Adapter Cable with USB Power,QGeeM 4K x 2K HDMI to DP Adaptor for HDMI Equipped Systems,Compliant with VESA Dual-Mode DisplayPort 1.2, HDMI 1.4 and HDCP: Electronics

The USB-C on your XPS 15 9550 is the DisplayPort. If you want dual external monitors on the XPS 15 9550, the best combination is 1 monitor with HDMI and one monitor with DisplayPort. The HDMI monitor gets connected to the HDMI port on the computer with a simple HDMI cable. The DisplayPort monitor gets connected to the USB-C port on the computer with a USB-C to DisplayPort cable:

Amazon.com: Fixget USB C to DisplayPort Cable (5.49ft/1.8m), 4K@60Hz USB 3.1 Type C (Thunderbolt 3 Compatible) to DP Cable for 2016 MacBook Pro, MacBook 12, ChromeBook Pixel, Samsung Galaxy S8/S8 Plus: Electronics

If you have two external monitors with HDMI, then one goes HDMI to HDMI with the simple cable, and the other goes to the USB-C port on the computer with either a USB-C to HDMI adapter, or USB-C to HDMI cable:

Amazon.com: USB C to HDMI, CableCreation USB 3.1 Type C to HDMI 4K Hub Adapter (Thunderbolt 3), DP Alt Mode, Male to Female, Compatible MacBook Pro/Chromebook Pixel/Dell XPS 13/Yoga 920/Samsung Note S9,S8, White: Electronics

Amazon.com: Aibocn USB C to HDMI Cable, Type C (Thunderbolt 3 Compatible) to HDMI 4K Cable for MacBook Pro, Surface Book 2, iMac, Galaxy S9/S8/Note 8, Dell XPS 13/15, Pixelbook and More - 6.5FT/2m: Electronics

The only difficult connection would be to connect a DisplayPort monitor to the HDMI connection on the computer, you don't want to do that.
