Can't reactivate Windows 10 after new hardware

I have gone through all the usuals with this and I'm stumped. Custom built PC [like the family axe] anyway Mobo/CPU died. So I was able to take over a deceased friends PC replace his HDD with my SSD with windows, and replaced his DDR3 RAM with mine.

In my Microsoft account my laptop and PC are shown - each with the funny numbers Microsoft assigned moons ago. My Desktop is there large as life complete with details of all my attached drives which are presently turned on. Windows Professional Version 1803. The other device listed is the Lenovo Laptop. Both go back to before 2015/16 with Retail purchase installations of Windows 8 Pro - since upgraded.

Running Admin CMD: slmgr.vbs /dlv I get this screenshot.

No matter what I have done I cannot reactivate it. This is crazy when both PC and Laptop are on my Microsoft account. Yet when it came to activation it only shows my Lenovo Laptop.

I can't get it to phone activation either.

    Thanks in advance.

    :)

  3. windows 10 reactivation after hardware change

I just changed motherboards, and When I follow the the steps listed in the "reactivate windows 10 after hardware change" support page, it gives me the message "unable to activate windows" message after I sign in and identify my device,
with no error code, just a subheader that says "can't activate windows 10 on this device, try again later."

Can't reactivate Windows 10 after new hardware

    Windows 10 Tweaks

Pressing “Windows+Pause Break” (it’s up there next to scroll lock) opens the “System” Window.

Windows 10: In the new version of Windows, Explorer has a section called Quick Access. This includes your frequent folders and recent files. Explorer defaults to opening this page when you open a new window. If you’d rather open the usual This PC, with links to your drives and library folders, follow these steps:

    • Open a new Explorer window.
    • Click View in the ribbon.
    • Click Options.
    • Under General, next to “Open File Explorer to:” choose “This PC.”
    • Click OK
