Hello. I have a new PC, assembled by a friend, so not pre-built/ready to go out of the box. He had me install the OS as Windows 10 Pro, non-activated. I'm trying to get it set up with a legitimate copy of Windows 10 for obvious reasons, but didn't learn until after the fact that Pro has a bunch of features I really don't need, so I'm trying to get the Home version instead to save a little money.

I bought my copy of Win10 Home via the Microsoft store, and have my product key/media installation tool on hand, which I tried to run. It told me it would have to wipe everything, so I thought okay, no big, I have the parts drivers and my files backed up. It went through the installation process, everything was wiped, but when I went to Settings > Activation, it's still saying that I'm running a non-activated copy of Win10 Pro. When I go to "change product key" and enter the key, it says that the product key didn't work, and gives me the error code 0xc004f050.

I'm really not sure what's going on, but I'd like to get it fixed. I am using two separate storage drives, one SSD which has the OS and other stuff on it, and one HDD for my games. The SSD got wiped when I tried to install Home, but the HDD seems unchanged. I don't know if that matters at all, but I felt I should mention it just in case. Any help is appreciated!

My audio also isn't working, but I figure that's an issue to be addressed once the OS problem is fixed.

    :)

win10 activation shows error code 0xc004f050 but device is permently activated

win10 activation shows error code 0xc004f050 but device is permanently activated

When trying to install win10 on this pc had to call Microsoft where the agent suggested I use my win8 product

key to install, that did work but now I have this on the right side of the activation window 0xc004f050.

There are no issues with my account or updating the os or store apps so don't know if I should be concerned or not ?

Update; I have download 1903 iso, burn to dvd, when starting the installer from the disk, get error message, "this device can not be updated"

only a clean install is highlighted.

Windows 10 activation error 0xC004F050 << might want to take a look.

Did you install the same edition of the win8 key,, Home , or Pro?

If win10 isn't activated, the upgrade installation will fail.
