Windows 10: Can't restore Windows 10 from disk image error code 0xC0000225

I can't boot Windows error code 0xC0000225 "A required device isn't connected or can't accessed". Created installation media on USB. Automatic repair doesn't work. I have a disk image on an external hard drive and 2 backups.

With the external hard drive connected to the problem PC Windows can't find the image.





The strange thing is when trying to point to the external drive Windows can see it. When trying to point to the image I get the prompt "locate and install a driver for a device that is attached to the computer but is not in the list of available system images".





Do I just need to to a new install of Windows? If I have to do that can I restore all my files and programs from the backups? Any advice greatly appreciated!

0xc0000225 boot error

For some odd reason when I turned on my computer today, I was greeted with the error 0xc0000225 stating that my NLS files were corrupt/missing. I am Running Vista x64 and so far have tried the following:

Replace NLS files
Windows repair utility
Restored an old working registry backup
Tried booting with different ram configurations
Created new BCD / Boot
Chkdsk


Google suggests something about apci, but my gigabyte ud3p doesn't have such an option (already vista compatible) and it seems to only occur to people who are initially installing and not people who already have a working copy.
