Windows 10: Can't seem to connect some apps

after I ran that everything went back to normal no proxy was being forced like it was before.

Then last week had it start again and I redid ADWCLEANER but no good then MALWAREBYTE that did clean it out yesterday and was fine but this morning SOME of the apps started to act up again through weather channel and IE both seem to be working fine

 

For the other browsers, it's going to put all their settings back to default. Since you don't use them anyway, it shouldn't be a problem.

For Firefox, it will remove all add-ons/extensions/user modifications (like in "about:config"). I don't save passwords in browsers (it's not safe), but I seem to recall that in FF it will reset the browser and then put all your passwords and bookmarks back in for you. HOWEVER, it would be smart to export/backup them yourself just in case. *Wink

Either it's coming back through syncing, or you're installing add-ons/toolbars that are bringing it back.

 

OK Will try this might be tomorrow as wifes got dinner just about ready and don't want to mess something up trying to do a rush job. Hi Again

I managed to reset edge and IE but while backing up Firefox I got on one of your posts above and noticed something in this screen shot you sent. You have the auto detect box checked but I noticed mine was unchecked. Might this be causing my issues?

Secondly I tried to recheck it and save but it keeps unchecking I even tried to restart the system and it is still unchecked and refuses to stay checked.

Note that unlike the last times this time the proxy box is staying UNCHECKED but is just the auto detect box this time not staying CHECKED

Might be off the rest of the night so will check replies in the AM if I get chance as forgot I have to drop the car off for a check and oil change so will see if I have time before departing if not might be later in the day depends how lazy I am in the morning HA HA

In IE, settings should stay at what you set them for - they shouldn't give you any grief. So this tells me something's not right. But I need to be sure you did everything....so,

Backup your PWs and Bookmarks and Reset FF

(reset any other web browsers that may be on the system)

Flush DNS

Make sure Fast Startup is turned OFF
Turn On or Off Fast Startup in Windows 10 Windows 10 Tutorials

Shutdown system (not a restart)

Start it back up; check IE settings. Report back please.

Do not restore your PWs or Bookmarks yet, and do not sign into any browser for syncing at this point.

Last update before shutting down fast start up was on but I turned it off going to reset FF now and then restart (full shut down) and then will report back here

 

OK am back but still the same the LAN Auto Detect Setting still will not remember that I have it checked. When I go back in after settings and saving it it just turns back off again to unchecked.

How is your system setup, with regards to user files? In other words, do you have your OS on one drive and your user data on another? Or, is it all on one drive? I don't usually see the plethera of reparse points you have.

Are you connecting wirelessly? Let's have a look at your DNS servers in your Network Interface card:

Right-click on the wireless icon in the taskbar and select Open Network and Internet Settings.

In the window that opens, select Change adapter options.

In the next window that opens, right-click on your wireless adapter, and select Properties.

In the next window that opens, highlight IPv4 and select Properties.

Here is a screenshot. In this one, the DNS servers have been set to Google:





What do you have there? Anything?
Put the Google servers in yours and click OK.

Flush the DNS cache again, and reboot. See if this makes a difference.

 

I would like you to run a CHKDSK on your OS drive please.

Open an Admin Command Prompt and type
Code: CHKDSK /r C:[/quote] Assuming your OS drive is C. If not, change C to whatever drive your OS is on.

Windows will say it can't check the drive while it's in use, and ask you to run at next boot. Say yes, and reboot the system; wait for it to finish. It can take a long time....
