  1. Can't separate mic inputs.

So I am trying to use my earphone for listening with my laptop's lenovo y520 internal mic. But when I go to the recording devices I always find just one device which never changes name and is always enabled by always i mean when or when I don't plug my earphone in. And yes I checked the show disabled devices. So I checked for solutions and a lot of them say go to the audio manager and enter advanced settings then separate recording devices. But I don't have written anywhere advanced settings. So it appears that lenovo disabled those settings. And yes I updated my drivers with the lenovo site. And I even tried to install the drivers from the realtek site but that gives problems the audio manager disappears.

So yeah that's my dilemma. I hope someone finds me a solution.

    :)

Muted mic picking up sound in game

    Hi JonPaul,

Thank you for writing to Microsoft Community Forums.

The issue could be because of the internal mic picking up sound even when the external device is pluuged in. If you have the RealTek HD Audi Manager installed on the machine, I would suggest you to try the steps listed below and check if it works for
    you.

    • Open RealTek HD Audio Manager and go to the
      Advanced tab.
    • Check the boxes Separate all input jacks as independent input devices
and Mute the internal output device, when external headphone is plugged in,
      and hit OK.
    • Exit RealTek HD Audio Manager, restart the machine and see if the issue persists.

    Regards,

    USB Mic Problems.

The next step is what I suggested originally. Try it in a friend's PC or take it to Best Buy and ask them to try it one of their PC's. Have to confirm the mic is working OK.

  4. Can't separate mic inputs.

Suddenly my system won't use a mic

One important step, try your mic with a different computer.
