  1. Can’t setup ad-hoc network on Windows 10 using usb wifi adapter

I’m using the D-Link AX1800 WiFi 6 USB adapter and trying to set up an ad-hoc network purely for P2P file sharing, no internet connection required. I’ve gone through the steps to set up an ad-hoc network on Windows 10 and it says the drivers may need updating. I’ve updated the drivers to the latest version and when performing the ‘netsh wlan show drivers’ command, the ‘Hosted network supported’ line says No.

I have to set up an ad-hoc network on this adapter for a project so is there any way this can be accomplished? Any help would be much appreciated.

No Choice for Ad Hoc Network

    Hey RonNewYork,
If you haven't already, check if you WiFi adapter has Hosted Network Support. If so you'll need to setup it up and turn it on.

  3. WiFi ad hoc problem

I'm creating an ad hoc network to connect my desktop (running Windows 7) with a friend laptop (running XP). So I set the network and in the wireless networks list of the laptop it appear with signal strength "Excellent" but once it connect to the network the signal strength drops to "Very Low". Any ideas where the problem may be? Thank you in advance.
