Windows 10: Can’t sign in with pin nor change pin , and can’t access safe mode

So my computer shut down randomly and I needed to enter the bit recovery key to start my laptop . After doing that , it says my pin is no longer available, click to set up pin . This is where my problem starts . I can’t set it up , it just loops back to the same page . Then I read online I need to get into safe mode so press shift and restart but it does not get into safe mode . Have tried it several times , not sure what to do now .

Windows 10 Safe Mode PIN Failure

Thank you Isha. I tried your safe mode suggestion WITH networking. It still did not work.

But I got round it by removing the PIN
even though Cortana does not work. Here is how:

1. Right-click on desktop

2. click on Personolise

3. in the blue search bar type Sign-in to get the sign-in option

4. click on Sign-in options

5. under the PIN section click on Remove

6. type in the user password (not PIN)

The PIN is now removed. This would now allow signing into windows in the Safe Mode, etc.

N.B. you could also go to the next step (step 7) and remove the account password all together if required.

 

PIN not working in Safe mode

Unable to go into safe mode to change pin

In order to get clarity on this issue and assist you with appropriate troubleshooting steps, please reply with the answers to the questions below.

1. What is the error that you are getting after entering the PIN?
2. Is there any other administrator user account on the laptop?
3. Are you entering the correct PIN?

If you have signed in with your Microsoft Account, I suggest you to follow the steps mentioned in
How to recover your PIN and password from the lock screen and check if this helps.

If you are not able to recover your PIN or password, then the only way to login to your laptop is to do a
Custom Installation of Windows, in which you will lose all your applications; however, your user data like pictures, videos, documents, etc., will be saved in Windows.old
folder.
