Windows 10: Can't sign in with security key, using business account not Microsoft, can't remove Hello Pin

Hello,I sign into my Win10 Pro workstation PC using my business email account not a Microsoft email and have always used a Hello Pin. Due to some recent events I ordered some USB Security Keys to sign in with instead. I have been successful in setting up the security keys with my online Microsoft account, however I cannot get my Windows PC to disable the Hello Pin so I can sign into my desktop with the security key as well.When I go to disable the Hello Pin, under Sign-in options, under the "Windows Hello Pin" section, it simply has a message that says "This option is currently unavailable--

I sign into my Win10 Pro workstation PC using my business email account (not a Microsoft email) and have always used a Hello Pin. Due to some recent events I ordered some USB Security Keys to sign in with instead.

I have been successful in setting up the security keys with my online Microsoft account, however I cannot get my Windows PC to disable the Hello Pin so I can sign into my desktop with the security key as well.

When I go to disable the Hello Pin, under Sign-in options, under the "Windows Hello Pin" section, it simply has a message that says "This option is currently unavailable--click to learn more". It acts as if I don't have a Hello Pin setup, except I do, and I use it every time I login.

So I click "Learn more" and it brings me to the generic Microsoft sign-in option web page, which doesn't provide anything that helps my situation.

I have occasionally, while trying to fix this, run into a message that says "your organization doesn't allow a Security Key", except 1) I have successfully signed in using my security key when I attempt to bypass the Hello Pin sign-in page on my lock screen (using the "Forgot Pin" feature) and 2) I am the organization owner, and I never said a security key can't be used.

Why can't I disable this Hello Pin?

Remove sign in pin

I suggest you to follow the below steps to remove the sign in pin/password options.

• In the search box type sign-in-option.
• Click on the sign-in-option.
• Then you can find password/pin/picture password.
• There you can remove the option and check.

Windows Hello sign-in security key issue

Hello Arman, welcome to the Microsoft community, I'll be happy to help you today;

First remove the Windows Hello Pin;

Go to Settings > Accounts > Sign-in options;

Uncheck "For improved security,only allow Windows Hello Sign'in for Microsoft accounts on this device";

Click Windows Hello Pin and select Remove;

This will remove your Pin;

Now try to configure the security key;
