Windows 10: Cant sign into Xbox app

I feel like Charlie from always sunny looking for “Pepe Silvia”. I have been researching this past week and have found nothing to my problem. Every time I load up the Xbox app and try to sign in, I’m met with “we couldn’t sign you in to Xbox live. The process terminated unexpectedly.” And leaves me with no error code and just a try again button. I’m an administrator on the account and everything else is fine. The worst thing is I can’t find anyone else with the EXACT same problem as me. The only thing I can think of is that I don’t have windows “activated”. Could that be withholding me from signing in? Just because I don’t pay for windows, it won’t let me use the Xbox app? Thanks to any that reply.

• Is your computer connected to the internet?
• Have you made any changes to your computer or your account prior to the issue?
• Are you connected to a home network?

In the meantime, we suggest that you update the Xbox App by uninstalling and reinstalling it. Here's how:

• Click Start, and then type Windows PowerShell on the search box.  
• Right-click, and then select Run as administrator.  
• Type the following command to uninstall Xbox app: Get-AppxPackage *xboxapp* | Remove-AppxPackage  
• Hit Enter.  
• Launch Windows Store and download Xbox App.
