Can't Update/Disable/Uninstall PCI Express Root Port

I suspect that this problem is unique to this specific computer.

After 8 or 9 attempts to install Feature Update 1903, I decided to check for out-of-date drivers and Restore Health etc. (I have several other computers and they generally recover after 2 or 3 attempts.) When I attempted to Update the PCI Express Root Port, it seemed to find an updated driver, but seconds after the installation began the CPU light went out, the keyboard and mouse froze and I had to reboot. The information on the screen froze. The same thing happened when I tried to Disable the device, or when I tried to Uninstall the device. Typically 1903 fails around the 89% Updates phase and then it recovers the previous installation.

If at that point during the Microsoft installation, an attempt is made to scan for obsolete drivers, my system will definitely crash. Possibly this is the reason that 1903 won't install.

Of course you will ask what the error message was. Well this time it told me that 1903 just required a reboot to be successful. This was obviously a faulty message because it previously said that it was restoring my previous system. Here is a list of attempts: Requires Restart to finish installation; Failed to install 0xc1900101; Failed to install 0x8007001f; Requires Restart; Requires Restart; Requires Restart; Failed to install 0x8024200d; Requires Restart; etc.

    Gateway DX4850-43c; Intel Core i5-2300 CPU @ 2.8 Ghz; Ram 6 Gb; 64 bit, X64 Processor; Windows 10 Home 1809 installed 2019-02-17; OS Build 17763.737.

Anyone have any ideas on how to freeze my system and stop these constant downloads, or destroy the PCI Express Root Port?

    :)

  3. PCI Root Complex uninstalled

    Hi,

Thank you for posting your query in Microsoft Community.

I understand your concern regarding the issue that you are facing.

In a PCI Express (PCIe) system, a root complex device connects the processor and memory subsystem to the PCI Express switch fabric composed of one or more switch devices.

    Please reply to these questions:

    1. What is the make and model of the mouse?

    2. Have you tried with different USB ports?

Let us try the following methods:

    PCI Express Root Complex issue:

Method 1: It is a component of the motherboard; update the chipset drivers from the manufacturer’s website and see if that helps.

    USB mouse issue:
