Windows 10: Can't update due to error code 0X80070652

Laptop fails to update, I am running Windows 10, but an old version #1511. Updates are prepped but fail to complete installing, usually at 83% completion. Any suggestions

Update problem, error code 0x80070652

Problem:

• Brand new notebook (Lenovo ThinkPad E570), i5 7th gen., 8GB, 250 SSD, preinstalled Win-10 Pro
• I have connected it to 230 V, and to the LAN via cable
  
• After finishing all the initial steps (language, country, user account, etc.), the first update started
• After several hours it finished with the error message: "Some problem appeared. It is not possible to update Windows right now. We'll try to update it later. To solve this problem, you can ask Microsoft's Support Departement. Error code is 0x80070652".
  (Note the error message was displayed in my local language, so the text above is just the translation.)
