Windows 10: Can't update to Windows 1903 from 1803 - Cannot apply the security template for the new OS....

I can't seem to update my Windows 1803 to 1903. I keep getting error 0x800704B8 0x3001a:


InstallSecurityTemplate: Error in processing upgrade template. Error: 0x000004b8

Cannot apply the security template for the new OS. Error: 0x800704B8



I have tried every troubleshooting step recommended in dozens of other messages: clean boot, unplugging devices, disabling third party AV )(which I don't have), sfc, dism, windows update troubleshooter, deleting folders (such as softwaredistribution, catroot2, etc), updated all drivers/firmware/bios, resetting security with secedit, checked partitions and disk space, and more.


Finally as a last resort I tried an "in place upgrade", but it ran into the same issue.

Seems like others are experiencing the program with applying the security template, but haven't seen any solutions that work. Performing a clean install is not really a solution.

Win10: windows update stuck at never ending loop ?

When in win10:

• Update&security -> Windows update -> Finding update... .... .... ....

Planning to download the latest Win10.ISO (vers.1803) and manually update:
- Then wait that my ordered new SSD arrives and clone the old HDD to it.

 

Windows Home 10 update from 1803 to 1903

I have windows 10 x64 home edition, version 1803.

I'm trying to update it to the new onw, version 1903, but my pc freezes every time when the installation is going to finish (around 80%).

I tried to update the OS in different ways:

1. Start > Settings > Update
   & Security > Windows Update , and then select Check for updates.
   If updates are available, install them.
2. Download the Update Assistant
3. Download the Media Creation Tool 1903

The result is always the same.

No errors, only pc freezing.

What do you suggest to do?

Hi..I recently downloaded and installed the new windows updates..I have the 1903 update on desktop but a failed on my other desktop that has 1803..it fails on downloading the 1903..is there a site or link that i can go to and get the 1903 update?thanks
