Windows 10: Can't update windows no matter what. Error code 0x80080005

I have tried everything.

Newer pc, windows 10, rtx 2070. amd ryzen 5.


About 5 months ago my windows update started having errors when searching for updates. This wasn't a big deal at the time but after a while my computer started crashing. Everything else is up to date, just not windows. It gives the Error code 0x80080005 but I have found this to be totally useless.




Tried using the windows update troubleshooter several times over the past few months.


I always run CMD as an administrator.

tried this...

net stop wuauserv

net stop cryptSvc
net stop bits
net stop msiserver
ren C:\Windows\SoftwareDistribution SoftwareDistribution.old
ren C:\Windows\System32\catroot2 catroot2.old
net start wuauserv
net start cryptSvc
net start bits
net start msiserver
net localgroup administrators
networkservice /add
net localgroup administrators localservice /add]

...But the wuauserv commands cant find the file. Maybe this is an issue but can't find any fixes for it


Tried the DISM repair commands but they just get stuck at 90.3% for hours.

Also tried resetting the windows store.



I am running out of options. Please can anyone help?

I cannot send nor receive emails and get the error code 0x80080005. Any suggestions?

Sorry? Have you got the correct Tweaking .com's repair tool? Or followed the steps to the end where you actually do the numbered repairs?




- If you had followed all the steps I'd have expected it to take a bit longer.

It guides you through stages of preparation, then you perform the repairs in Safe Mode.

Of course, you can just go to Safe Mode, launch the program, and directly run the repairs, missing the preparation... not the best of ideas. It's designed to give you ways of going back if something goes wrong by creating a restore point, registry backup... then doing the repairs.
