Windows 10: Can't upgrade from Win 7 home to Win 10 Enterprise and keep apps and files

We are a small non-profit and are trying to upgrade a machine from OEM Win 7 home to Win 10 Enterprise and have purchased 3 Win 10 Enterprise licenses for our machines. The first one we tried is Win 7 home and we want to keep all apps and files.


While logged in, we run the Setup program from the Win 10 installation disk and select upgrade instead of install in order to keep what we have. However, we then have to select to keep apps/files, keep personal files only or keep nothing. The choice for keeping apps and files is grayed out so we can't select it. We need to keep apps to avoid the downtime associated with reinstalling and re-configuring all the apps.


We are not asked for our license key at any time to this point.


Microsoft's web site indicates in docs.microsoft.com that this should be possible.


We called Microsoft and the rep was unable to get us past that point. He then wanted us to submit a Microsoft ticket but you have to pay for that support. These are brand new licenses and we can't get Microsoft to help us without paying them.

will installing win 10 enterprise keep programs and files on system running win 7 pro?

 

is hardware OK (Win 7) for upgrade to windows 10

I think in one of the other PC with win 7 or win 8.1 I run media creators tools and in some step prompt/found graphics card not supported... for win 10. I didn't found alone reading specs of win 10, but the tool says me... after changed graphics card the tool said all OK and continued OK with upgrade... That I ask to reach this step in this current PC - win 7 - must be all OK for the upgrade? Or must continue to upgrade to show this?
