Please run each chkdsk /x /f /r and HD Tune on all partitions/drives and post images into the thread.

Checking all drives should clear up any uncertainty about the device which does not exist that may have corruption.

Code: The system failed to flush data to the transaction log. Corruption may occur in VolumeId: F:, DeviceName: \Device\HarddiskVolume9. (A device which does not exist was specified.)[/quote]

    Can't upgrade my W10

    Size does matter!

Apparently my significant if not only problem was the size of my EFI partition. I used one of the many tools recommended by zbook to increase my partition size to 150 MB from 100 MB (88 MB used - only 12 MB available for W10 update). Still no joy, though the update progressed further prior to the dreaded notice "Something went wrong".

After reviewing the plethora of helpful suggestions, I noted that ThrashZone says that the reserved partition needs to be at least 450 MB. So I increased the size to 525 MB and Windows finally updated to the current version (1703 I think).

Thanks to all who contributed to my plea for help on this troubling issue. Special recognition to zbook for the many diagnostic tools referenced. I'll keep them in my utility library. And of course ThrashZone for the ultimate fix.

That's great. I'm glad you got it upgraded.
Now you can keep the partitions as is or return them to their prior size.
Were you able to complete the drive studies and fix any possible corruption?

I did complete the studies using the helpful tools that you suggested and did not find any file corruption. Chkdsk reported

    507543548 KB total disk space.
    90798512 KB in 484403 files.
    285236 KB in 56188 indexes.
    0 KB in bad sectors.

The other tools didn't report problems, but I'll keep them on hand for further diagnostics in case I ever again have a Windows problem (of course I will).

    Nice work.
The other option to fix the problem with the upgrade was to remove the foreign languages and fonts which would create more free space within the partition.
