Can't upgrade to Win10Pro 1903 release due to VMWare conflict

I attempted to upgrade to 1903 yesterday but received the "Something went wrong" with error code "0xc1900209". Essentially, there's apparently a conflict between VM Player and VM Workstation. I use VM Workstation quite a bit and VM Player is v14.x, iirc. I got 85% 'completed' and then an 'oops' message. Not too sure why the message after 85% processing as the test, imho, should have been done earlier like at task initiation time.

Seems like there shouldn't be a 'reason' to have a Windows upgrade validate versions of a product that's not intrusive into Windows? I attempted to upgrade VM Player to v15.x and VM doesn't allow that.

    So..

    1) will removing the VM Player allow me to update or not?

    2) I typically leave 'well enough alone'/'if it's not broke don't fix it' especially just before/around a major OS upgrade.

    Thoughts?

    TIA

    :)

Can't upgrade to Win10Pro 1903 release due to VMWare conflict

The solution to this problems was to upgrade VMWare from v14.x to v15.x which included a fee. So, the only way out of this, afaik, was to pay for the upgrade to v15.x. Once this was done the Windows 10Pro upgrade went fine. The VM Player wasn't among
the uninstallable options of the Windows programs.

    Thanks for your help.

Can't upgrade to Win10Pro 1903 release due to VMWare conflict

    Hi Total1,

I am Sumit, an Independent Advisor and a 2-Year Windows Insider MVP here to help.

An exact message where you see that VmWare Player has an issue can help us understand the issue better.

Though the error code at least says so that an incompatible application is present.

    (0xc1900209)

You can try uninstalling Vmware player and see if it resolves it probably which should.
