Windows 10: Can't use touchpad and keyboard at the same time

'm attempting to play a game on my new hp Zbook that requires me to use the keyboard and my touchpad at the same time. Whenever I do, it stops and won't let me. I tried to research the issue and turn off palm check or smart sense and I don't have either of these in my Synaptics Settings. I also cannot find options for these anywhere in Windows Settings either.

There are several reasons why you are experiencing issues with using your keyboard and mouse at the same time while playing a game. It is possible that the touchpad or the mouse driver is not updated. To properly isolate your concern, please clarify the
following information:

• When was the last time that you were able to use your keyboard and your touchpad at the same time in a game?
• Did the issue start after an update?
• Have you tried to update touchpad driver?

If you are using a Synaptics Touchpad, you may follow the steps below to change the touchpad settings:

• Press the Windows key on your keyboard and type Control Panel in the search box.
• Click on Mouse and go to Device Settings tab.
  
  Go to Settings.
• Under the Synaptic Settings, go to Pointing, then select
  Sensitivity.
• Select Palmcheck and set it to Minimum.
• Test the game.

 

Cannot use touchpad and keyboard at the same time for gaming on windows 10.

• Have you tried running the Hardware and Devices troubleshooter?
  

To run the troubleshooter to scan your computer, identify the problems, and attempt to fix the issues automatically, you may refer to the steps below:

1. Press Windows key + R and type Control Panel.
2. Type troubleshooting in the search bar and click on Troubleshooting.
3. Click on Hardware and Devices.
4. Follow the steps from the wizard to run the troubleshooter.

I would recommend you to reset the drivers for your keyboard. To reset the drivers, please follow the following steps:

1. Right click on the start button and open Device Manager.
   
2. Under Keyboards, you will find Standard PS/2 Keyboard.
   
3. Right click on it and click on uninstall.
   

Then restart your computer which will reset the drivers.



Note: If you find multiple options under keyboards, uninstall the drivers for all the options listed (only under keyboards category) and restart your computer. Also you can follow the same steps to fix the issue with your touchpad
(if it still persist). Touchpad drivers will be posted under Mice and other pointing devices.
