  1. Cant use wifi card and no network icon on desktop as well as ethernet says no internet but...

There are no available networks and i can not open the network tab on taskbar as it is not there i have googled issues and it says it is enabled but its not there.

I go to settings>network and internet and there is nothing on network status so i clicked show available networks and it just says Ethernet no internet even thought i can use the internet. Everything works that requires internet apart from built in Microsoft apps for example the store or the Xbox app it says connect to internet which i can not because Ethernet has no internet even though it works and i cannot select any WiFi's for the WiFi card.

i have tried every fix like reinstalling network adapters, doing a network reset and flushing my dns using cmd. So i was like screw this i'm going to reset my PC so i was trying to remove everything and then it was undoing the reset and said an error occurred so googled fixes for that and it didn't work.

So please can someone tell me whats going on and how to fix it please.

    :)

  2. Safe mode with networking, no network, using ethernet

Computer is flashing a BSOD saying: Video TDR Failure (atikmpag.sys)

Internet says I should try reinstalling drivers in safe mode. But when I reboot it safe mode, it says my password is incorrect, and I notice there's no internet connection from the red x over the network card icon in the corner. I'm on a desktop with ethernet
connection. Most issues on the internet involve trying to fix wifi issues. I don't have wifi, just ethernet, so I don't understand why internet wouldn't be working in safe mode with networking.

How to connect to an existing wifi network?

As you suggested, I tried disabling the ethernet adapter and that caused wi-fi to connect, so the desktop wifi does work. Also, I accessed the router and changed the wireless network name (to wfCHS). Thanks!

However many problems are still unresolved:

My laptop behaves just as I want it to. Assuming the router has wifi turned on and the laptop has an ethernet connection, connection to the internet is by ethernet (no private network name), and the wi-fi connection is to my private network "wfCHS", but with no connection to the internet. (If I disconnect the ethernet cable, then wfCHS becomes connected to the internet and stays that way even if I reconnect the cable.) A directory listing shows both laptop and desktop under "Network". Great!

Things are rather different with the desktop. With Ethernet disabled, the desktop shows a wi-fi connection to the internet. Under Settings > Status it's called "wfCHS" but under Network Connections it's called wfCHS2. If I then re-enable the ethernet connection, the wifi connection stays enabled for a minute or two, then disconnects. Further, the ethernet connection is given the name wfCHS2 under both Status and Network Connections.

Why does the desktop give an (unwanted) name to the ethernet connection while the laptop doesn't?

Why does the desktop disconnect its wi-fi connection a minute or so after the ethernet connection is enabled, while the laptop doesn't?

Why does the desktop give two different names to the wifi connection, depending on whether it's viewed under Status or Network Connections, while the laptop doesn't?

Why does the laptop show the desktop under Network, while the desktop shows only itself?

Things are so convoluted that I'd be happy to start over. I've had the desktop "forget" the wi-fi connection as you suggested, then re-established it, but this hasn't helped. Can the ethernet connection also be "forgotten"?

Really appreciate the help you've given so far!

Internet Slowdown on my Desktop - Ethernet Connection

Thanks Vijay. I went through your steps other than the repair upgrade, and there was no change. Before I do the repair upgrade, I want to check on another angle.

I went into Networks and Sharing and realized that Windows is simply not recognizing my Verizon modem/router as the Ethernet connection. The slow internet access is due to the fact that the desktop is picking up the WiFi signal, and it's not strong on this
    device.

For Ethernet, I get an "Unidentified Network" and when I click on Ethernet Status, the IPv4 and IPv6 connectivity lists "no network access". Looking at the Ethernet properties, the "Connect Using" lists Realtek PCle GBE Family Controller. Shouldn't it
be the Verizon modem name? Also noticed that the Microsoft Network Adaptor Multiplexor Protocol is unchecked. Not sure if that matters.

I think what I need to do is somehow configure the Verizon modem again, but not sure how.
