Windows 10: Can't write in search bar, and hit enter in calculator does nothing

It is a really annoying problem, it has happened to me twice already. I had to reinstall windows again to be able to fix it the first time.

Like I said, from one moment to the next, I can't type in the search bar of windows explorer.

Also pressing enter in the windows calculator does not show the result.

Also when I press the windows key and then type something to search for it, nothing happens, it is as if the keyboard was dead. It's driving me crazy.

Anyone know any solution? First of all, Thanks

Trouble with search bar (won´t find data)

Hi Jan,

I Would suggest you follow the steps below and see if it helps:

Step 1: On the Search bar type “cmd”. Right Click on the Command Prompt option and select Run as Administrator. (If prompted for a password, type the password and click Allow)

Step 2: DISM TOOL

• Type Dism /Online /Cleanup-Image /ScanHealth
  and click Enter.
• Type Dism /Online /Cleanup-Image /CheckHealth
  and click Enter.
• Type Dism /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth
  and click Enter.

I can't write on Microsoft Edge's startpage or Search Windows, the loading blue circle, and Background processes meddlling

• On Microsoft Edge's startpage & Search Windows. I can't write in those text boxes. It works normally if I'm on a different internet search engine or browser.
  
• If I want to search for something in Search Windows, I have to write whatever I want to search for (such as the
  Calculator for example) somewhere else, highlight & copy it and paste it on the Windows Search textsearch bar.

Example. I want to search for the
Calculator. I click on Search Windows, click in its textbox, and I can't write "calculator" (as if I don't have a keyboard).

I open either a textbox in a browser (any textbox) or a text file, I write in there "calculator", highlight it with my mouse pointer or with my keyboard (ctrl+c
OR right-click 'Copy'), then I right-click on Search Window's textbox & paste "calculator" . And it works, it shows me the Calculator.

• None.
• 'Clearing' as in 'deleting' the cache and cookies? No.

*Update on the situation*

The computer at one point, while not on Microsoft Edge (I was using Chrome), freezes & the whole screen went dark. I could've seen only my mouse pointer & could move it.

I've restarted the computer and after I've introduced my PIN, on the desktop, two
cmd.exe window pop-ups appeared & disappeared.

I've also observed that, on the right corner of the taskbar, it takes a while for my language bar to appear. For a moment or two, where the language bar is, it looked like a small empty space. It appears eventually but it takes a while to appear.

• Did you tried installing the calculator from Windows store?

  Type run on the Windows search bar and select Run.

  Enter the command in box and press Enter.
