Cast to device returns "unexpected error"

I used to be able to cast pictures, music, and videos to my TV using WMP, but now it no longer seems to work. It returns "unexpected error." I've checked that all the streaming settings are enabled on WMP and my drivers are up-to-date. The Windows troubleshooter couldn't identify the problem (as usual). After looking online for a solution and finding none that helped, I come to you. Any ideas? I'm running Windows 10.

    :)

Cast to Device (TV) unexpected device error

I had to send my laptop off for a warranty repair and for some reason can no longer get cast to device (lg smart tv) for any of my videos to work regardless of format. The homegroup is also missing from the tv input list.

I have turned media streaming options on, turned the setting on through windows media player, run the troubleshooters, checked firewalls, created a homegroup but still can't get the feature to work. Casting to my bluetooth speakers does work though.

Can anyone help? I'm really not sure why they're no longer working together, nothings changed but a clean install of windows 10. All drivers are up-to-date. The only error I get on the cast to device screen is 'Unexpected Device Error'.

    Thanks

Cast to device returns "unexpected error"

    windows 10 cast to device

    Hi Steven,

    • Do you get any error message when you try to cast the device?
    • Does the issue happen when you don't use cast to device, I mean when you are online?
    • Which device do you use to cast the content?
If the issue happens only when you cast the device, the issue can be that of the casting device. In that case I would request you to execute the Hardware and devices troubleshooter.

Windows 10 has a built-in troubleshooter to check and fix issues with hardware and devices. I would suggest you to run this troubleshooter to check if the issue is with the Bluetooth adapter. Refer these steps:

    • Press Windows key +X, select
      Control panel.

    • Change the view by option on the top right to
      Large icons.

    • Click on troubleshooting and click on the
view all option on the left panel.

    • Run the Hardware and devices troubleshooter.

    • Restart your computer and check if the issue is resolved.

Hope this information is helpful. Thank you.
