Windows 10: Certain Glitchy Explorer Windows?

Good Day to the Windows Ten Forum Folks,

I recently updated from Windows 8.1 x64 home to Windows 10 x64 Home. Everything went smoothly except for one inconvenience which I was hoping you could help me resolve.

My problem is that recently in Windows 8.1 I was getting Glitchy Explorer Windows aka Windows that don't fully load unless I move them around the screen, I thought this was a program error and that the Windows 10 installation would fix the problem, however it didn't fix it.

Example of the issue: Screenshot by Lightshot It also happens when trying to download things in browsers and it asks me where I would like to save the file for downloading and when opening games that have a dialogue box before launching and other various Dialogue/Windows Explorer boxes (Such as Properties on Folders and Files etc).

I've tried a few basics as listed below:

• Updating Windows via Windows Update (Since I just got Windows 10, it's fully updated)
• Restarting Explorer via Task Manager (Numerous Times)
• Restarting my Computer (Numerous Times)
• Updating Drivers including my Nvidia Graphics Driver to 353.62
• Ran sfc /scannow (No Fix)
• Tried Googling the issue, but as I don't have an error code or really a specific name it's kind of hard to find anything helpful

Therefore, Nothing I've tried above has seemed to work, hence, I've turned here as a last resort. I've also noticed the issue to be more frequent since installing Windows 10 for whatever reason but don't think it's a specific Windows 10 issue as I noticed it with a few things in Windows 8.1 but not as many as I've seen in Windows 10.

Other Details:

• Basic Computer and Graphics Details: Screenshot by Lightshot (I don't think it's a graphics issue either)
• I just installed Windows 10 and was never on any Preview Versions
• I've always been on Windows 8 and 8.1
• Things like Start Menu, Wifi Lists, Action Center all load properly and are not glitchy as shown in the first screenshot with the Volume Mixer

I'd be grateful of any solutions or recommendations on how to fix this issue as it is an inconvenience for me to have to move almost every Dialogue Window around before I can see the contents of it. Also if you require more information on this don't hesitate to ask as if it is practical I will supply it to try and get a fix for this.

nokia 820/ problem with apps

a lot of the apps I have downloaded appear glitchy. Words with friends app freezes up the phone will ultimately shut down on its own. I'm constantly having to go out of a game and come back in. The chat function only on certain people will take completely
out of the game as well. Same with draw something that I downloaded for my children. Facebook app for windows8 phones also weird. If I'm scrolling thru pix then go back to view comments on a previously viewed picture the comments are for a completely different
picture. Glitchy

 

screen glitch, 640 Win10 update

I've updated to windows 10 mobile on my 640lte, only when I'm in internet explorer the screen glitches out, sometimes it's a repetitive pattern of what's on the webpage, sometimes just blank with a small glitchy bar at side

 

It could very well be a hardware issue, since the problem doesn't go away with a new OS.

 

Thank-you for the suggestion, I'll look into Hardware. For the time being I just quickly ran the built in Windows 10 Hardware and Devices Troubleshooter and it didn't seem to do much except tell me: Hardware Changes might not have been detected and that the issue has been fixed... which just seems like a generic response from the troubleshooter.

Although, I'll have a play around with the hardware and see. It's just weird that I only recently noticed it after installing a Dev Version of Chrome or Beta Version of Firefox on Windows 8.1 when I first noticed the issue when the Save As Dialogue Box came up when trying to download a file (I've since updated Firefox and Chrome numerous times since I first noticed the issue). I don't however remember it affecting properties of files and folders in the Explorer or the Volume Mixer on windows 8.1 which is weird as to why it got worse on Windows 10.

However, thank-you again for the suggestion, much appreciate and if by any chance you can think of a particular type of hardware that would most likely be causing this, that I should focus on looking at, would be appreciated. If not then I'll start with what I suspect first.

 

This! This is what I am also experiencing which is further compounded by the fact none of the basic Windows GUI functions work. Want to click on the Start button? Nope. Nothing but a clocking cursor appears. Want to use any of the pinned items on the taskbar? Also nope! Same clocking cursor appears. I really want to check the notifications via the Notifications icon in my notifications area. Sorry, you can't do that either! Clicking on anything that does not have a clocking cursor will simply do...well...nothing. I am so frustrated with this that my right eyebrow is twitching.

 

It seems unlikely that your problem is the same, since his started in his previous version of Windows.

 

@BlauUmlaut as Mystere stated, my problem isn't the same as all my Basic Windows GUI works. So, I can only help you to the extent of my problem which is Explorer Dialogue Windows not displaying correctly aka displaying glitchy. Therefore, I'm sorry I can't directly help you with your problem as I'm not getting your full symptoms but I wish you best of luck with your problems.


@Mystere Checked out my Hardware, ran numerous tests such as /sfc scannow, chk disk, memory tests, driver rollbacks and re-updating, uninstalling things and have finally figured out my problem.


It seems as though my problem only occurred after my Windows Fully started up. I knew this as I kept opening the Volume Mixer as soon as Windows had restarted whilst my Start-Up applications where still loading. I noticed upon loading a program called "Raptr v4.4.4" that it'd cause the Volume Mixer to go glitchy as shown in the screenshot in the first post I made. Hence upon removing Raptr from Start-Up almost everything has been fine.

However, I still get a Glitchy Explorer Window as shown here: Screenshot by Lightshot when I try to download a file (Using Firefox, Chrome and IE... I couldn't figure out how to Save As with Edge) even with Raptr not running. This is what was happening back on Windows 8.1 as I previously mentioned. So, I should be able to pretty much live with this and thank-you both for your suggestions.

Thanks again for all the help and best of luck with BlauUmlaut with your issue (I'd recommend trying to remove all non-needed start up programs and see if that fixes anything, I'm unsure if it will in your case but it sure helped me).

-For now I have marked this solved, but if anyone has any ideas why the Glitchy Window as shown above happens when I try to Save As a downloaded file, feel free to leave a suggested solution. But for now I'm marking it solved.
