Windows 10: Certain Windows 10 Taskbar elements search, weather, date/time not working correctly, I...

I've been having bother with this for a while. Here is a video of the behaviour. It was recorded at the start of this month July but I was too lazy to make this post until now: https://streamable.com/x4ppf7 As you can see, clicking search and the weather button brings up the box as if it's about to load, then it just closes automatically. Clicking the date just shows the wheel spinning for a second. my taskbar search is working sporadically

My taskbar search bar is working some of the time. For example, if I type in "TaskMgr", it will list taskmgr, and when I click on it, it opens my Task Manager, as expected.

But if I type in a file name or an app, like WinMerge, it will list them properly in the Search list, but if I click on them, either nothing happens or it takes me to the root window of File Explorer, instead of to the file or the app.

Cortana Weather not working

Do not worry, it can be fixed.

I suggest you to try the steps provided below and check if it helps.

Restart the computer a few times and check for Windows Updates.

In the Search box on the taskbar, enter Windows Update, select Windows Update. On the Windows Update page, select Check for updates.

Make sure system date and time is set correctly.


1. Click on Date and Time on the right lower corner of the screen.

2. Click on Date and Time settings. Change date and time if it is not set correctly.

Then try to switch Cortana off and on.

Windows search by time

Hi,


I have 100s of files but I need to find all the ones that have been last modified during a certain time range: 11am to 4pm the date is irrelevant.


I'm not sure if this is possible with the default windows search or maybe someone knows of an alternative.
