Windows 10: CES 2021: ASUS ROG Flow X13 and ZenBook Pro Duo with ScreenPad Plus

At CES 2021, ASUS announced its latest lineup of laptops, displays and entertainment solutions at its âBe Aheadâ virtual launch event.

Among the Windows 10 devices unveiled: The ROG Flow X13, the first 2-in-1 convertible ROG gaming laptop, and the ROG XG Mobile, an ultraportable external GPU that augments the Flow X13âs gaming performance and connectivity.

The Flow X13 arrives in an ultraslim 13-inch body with up to an 8-core AMD Ryzen 9 5980HS CPU and dedicated GeForce GTX 1650 GPU, which provides the performance needed for demanding workloads and enables strong performance in the latest games. Up to 32GB of memory provides smooth multitasking. A PCIe SSD provides high performance and up to 1TB of capacity, giving users ample storage space for games and professional portfolios.

A 360-degree hinge maximizes touchscreen viewing and interaction, quickly flipping from laptop mode into positions for gaming, drawing and presenting. You can also take advantage of Windows Ink. The edge-to-edge keyboard design incorporates a full-sized, desktop-style layout into its compact chassis. The ErgoLift hinge raises the back of the keyboard as the system is opened for a better typing angle. Convert the X13 to tent mode and play games using compatible devices such as the Xbox controller.

ROG Flow X13

Sign on with Windows Hello. A choice of two 16:10 display options provides either a 120 Hz refresh rate or an Ultra HD 4K resolution with richer detail. You can also wake it up like a smartphone thanks to an integrated one-touch login. On both displays, Adaptive-Sync synchronizes the panelâs refresh rate with the GPUâs frame rate to reduce lag, minimize stuttering and eliminate visual tearing.

The self-cleaning thermal module uses anti-dust tunnels to channel particles away from the fans and heatsinks. Minimizing build-up helps the cooling system operate more reliably over time, giving the laptop a long life of fast and flexible gaming. Other advancements improve airflow by up to 13% without increasing noise.

Whether youâre collaborating on work or in games, advanced two-way AI noise-canceling removes unwanted sounds from both input and output audio.

ROG Flow X13

The battery powers up to 10 hours of video playback. Fast-charging technology replenishes the battery from 0% to 50% in 30 minutes.

The ROG XG Mobile is a fraction of the size of external graphics alternatives, but it incorporates up to a powerful GeForce RTX 3080 GPU connected directly to the CPU via a custom PCIe 3.0 x8 interface thatâs faster than Thunderbolt 4. This top-of-the-line GPU is based on the new NVIDIA Ampere architecture, which combines CUDA cores for programmable shading with 2nd generation RT cores for advanced ray tracing and 3rd generation Tensor cores that offer greater throughput for AI-accelerated DLSS graphics.

An integrated 280W AC adapter powers both the XG Mobile and Flow X13, removing the need for users to carry an additional power brick.

ASUS also debuted the ASUS ZenBook Pro Duo 15 OLED (UX582), a 15-inch laptop equipped with the new tilting ASUS ScreenPad Plus, a full-width 4K secondary touchscreen that works with the main 4K OLED HDR display for multitasking. Itâs backed by up to the latest generation Intel Core i9 processor and NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3070 graphics.

ASUS ZenBook Pro Duo 15 OLED

Expanding upon the original design, ScreenPad Plus incorporates an auto-tilt mechanism that automatically raises the rear of the secondary display by 9.5 degrees for improved usability and to reduce potential glare. The NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3070 discrete graphics chip in ZenBook Pro Duo has multiple cores to handle multi-screen workflows using ScreenPad Plus and the main display. The frameless screen design features an 89% screen-to-body ratio for more immersive visuals.

The ASUS ZenBook Duo 14 (UX482) is a 14-inch laptop that also has the ASUS ScreenPad Plus, the secondary touchscreen that works with the main FHD NanoEdge display for multitasking. This device packs performance into its slim, 0.66-inch profile through a combination of 11th Generation Intel Core processors and NVIDIA GeForce MX450 discrete graphics or Intel Iris Xe integrated graphics.

With the same auto-tilt mechanism as the ZenBook Pro Duo, the secondary display on ZenBook Duo is tilted by 7 degrees for improved readability. The laptop provides an immersive viewing experience, offering ultraslim bezels, an expansive 93% screen-to-body ratio and a four-sided frameless NanoEdge display. It is also TÃV Rheinland-certified for low blue light, to improve your comfort when youâre in front of it for long sessions, which youâll be able to do thanks to longer battery life â 17 hours â and a USB-C Easy Charge feature for versatile charging from either a USB-C Power Delivery-certified charger or any standard USB-C charger.

ASUS ZenBook Duo 14

Both ASUS ZenBook Pro Duo and ZenBook Duo include Control Panel, a fully customizable app that gives users precise and intuitive control of creative apps, including brush-size adjustment, saturation, layer opacity and more. It supports Adobe tools such as Photoshop, Lightroom Classic, Premiere Pro and After Effects.

As with the gaming devices, you can sign on using Windows Hello. Both also include a stylus, which enables yet another layer of interactivity for users. So on both youâll be able to use Windows Ink, wake on voice, far-field Cortana.

New ASUS ScreenPad 2.0, Screenpad Plus and refreshed ROG gaming laptop

At Computex 2019 in Taipei, Taiwan, ASUS unveiled a lineup of ZenBooks with new versions of its ScreenPad and a refreshed lineup of laptops from its Republic of Gamers. The company also celebrated its 30th anniversary with an exclusive limited-edition ZenBook Edition 30 (UX334FL), a Pearl White model with a hand-crafted genuine Italian leather lid cover.

The latest ZenBook 13 (UX334), ZenBook 14 (UX434) and ZenBook 15 (UX534) models now include the ASUS ScreenPad 2.0, an interactive secondary touchscreen with an intuitive new smartphone-like interface, which could go a long way toward easy task management and multitasking workflows.

All models in the series have a four-sided frameless NanoEdge display, with up to a 95% screen-to-body ratio that gives them the world’s most compact footprint in their respective classes.

ZenBooks are known for their combination of performance and mobility and these are no different. They feature a full complement of high-performance components including up to 8th Generation Intel Core i7 quad-core CPUs, up to NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1650 Max-Q graphics, 16GB RAM, ultrafast PCIe SSDs and gigabit-class Wi-Fi.

Also making its debut at Computex: the ZenBook Pro Duo (UX581), an ultraportable laptop that includes a 4K OLED UHD ASUS ScreenPad Plus (3840 x 2160), a full-width secondary touchscreen (3840 x 1100) that expands and enhances the interactive capabilities of the original ASUS ScreenPad. The display is a frameless four-sided ASUS NanoEdge design, with ultraslim bezels for immersive visuals and an ultra-compact form factor. It also features 100,000:1 HDR contrast and DCI-P3 100% for vivid color.

The ScreenPad Plus gives users the ability to enjoy the productivity and efficiency benefits of dual-screen computing on a single portable device. The full-width, high-resolution 32:9 aspect-ratio touchscreen sits directly above the laptop’s keyboard, providing a greatly enlarged visual workspace while preserving the standard laptop form factor.

You can use ScreenPad Plus just like any standard second display in Windows to display visual content, or take advantage of many time-saving features and functions built into the ScreenXpert control software to simplify multiscreen window and app management.

You can also drag discrete apps, toolbars or menus onto ScreenPad Plus to reduce clutter on the main screen and enhance work efficiency. Creators can dock their tools such as video previews, timeline controls, code windows or audio mixer panels onto ScreenPad Plus to optimize workflow. Social communications apps placed on ScreenPad Plus while working can help reduce distractions from notifications.

Adaptive functions, pioneered in the original ScreenPad, also offer enhanced workflow in apps such as Microsoft Office.

ZenBook Pro Duo features the latest version of the ASUS NumberPad, an LED-illuminated numeric keypad integrated into the touchpad. There’s also Amazon Alexa voice support.

Underneath, performance comes through up to 9th Generation Intel Core processors, combined with up to 32GB RAM and an NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2060 (UX581) or GeForce MX250 (UX481) GPU, with ultrafast storage provided by up to a 1TB PCIe 3.0 x4 SSD.

The full set of I/O ports includes a Thunderbolt 3-enabled USB Type-C port. The latest Wi-Fi 6 (802.11ax) provides next-level wireless speeds for connections to the world.

ASUS today announced the new ZenBook Pro 15 with ScreenPad (UX580), a high-performance professional-grade laptop that innovates how the touchpad is used. Touchpad innovation with ScreenPad
Touchpads have long been a staple of laptops since their introduction in 1992 but since then, besides better accuracy and accompanying gesture-based software support, there just hasn't been much innovation. This has led ASUS to develop the ZenBook Pro 15 with ScreenPad, containing a 5.5-inch Full HD IPS display that is more responsive and is adaptable to a variety of tasks, while retaining support for Microsoft Precision Touchpad (PTP) and up to four finger gestures.

The ScreenPad has a configurable toolbar at the top that can be dragged down to access the app launcher, which is also configurable with any installed application. ASUS has built-in support for popular professional applications such as Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint and an included calendar app that syncs to a Windows calendar account.
