    Issue:

    The folder attribute "show hidden files and folders" in the folder view options is, apparently, global regardless if "apply to all folders" is selected or not.


    According to the previous post, it is "by design". Note that this behavior existed in Windows Vista, 7, and 8n as well and was continuously objected to within many user postings on many different fora, including many postings by this author.


    Assuming that this is indeed by design, I would beg to suggest that this design choice is incorrect. It is inconsistent with other behaviors in the same dialog and, unlike "show system files", there is no indication that the choice is global.


    I would also beg to suggest that there are many use-cases where a particular user and/or administrator may wish to enable viewing of hidden files in certain places yet forbid it in others.


    Please do not respond with a seemingly dismissive "It's by design" - we know that. What I, and other users want is a way to modify this behavior on a case-by-case basis if necessary.

    Hidden folders

    I installed `Kane and Lynch` on my PC twice in Program Files(x86) folder but I can`t find them (2 folders with game). But free space on my HDD is lower. So there`re those folders on my hdd. I use option `unhide` hidden folders but still can`t find them. Any suggestions? How can i delete those hidden folders?

    When I run istallation for this game I can see those folders in Program Files(x86) folde.

    I`m using Win 7 Ultimate 64 bit.

    Change file attribute to 'unhide'

    Hello Walt,

    Thank you for posting your concern in Microsoft Community and welcome to the Windows 10 Family.

    I suggest you to follow the below steps to change the attribute of any file/folder to unhide.

    Step A: Show Hidden files

    1. Open Windows Explorer(win logo key+E) or My computer.

    2. Now click on View on top of the window.
    3. Untick ‘Hidden items’ in the options.

    Step B: Change file attribute

    1. Once the hidden file is located, right click on the file/folder you want to change the attribute for.

    2. Go to ‘properties’, untick the box facing hidden.

    3. Now, Click on ‘apply’ and then ‘ok’.

    yeah but if you search within windows search can u still be able to find files you put in it like say porn or somthing like that. that you can hide from the g/f or wife lol
