Windows 10: change network adapter name

how can i change network adapter name: (see Image):



i want change it to another name *Mad

Wireless Network Connection adapter name.

In windows 10 OS( Desktop Machines), while connecting USB Wi-Fi adapter, the default network connection name is "Wi-Fi"( But in Windows 7 machine is it is "Wireless Network Connection"). In another Windows 10 machine, the adapter name changes to "Wireless
Connection". Is there any reason for this name change...?

Have you tried to update or roll back your network adapter driver?

Follow these steps on how to update:

• Type Device Manager on the search bar.
• Select Network adapters and select your adapter's name.
• Right click the network adapter then select Update Driver Software
  then Search automatically for updated driver software.
• Follow the instructions, then click on Close.
• Restart your computer to apply the changes.

Perform these steps on how to rollback the network adapter:

• Type Device Manager on the search bar.
• Select Network adapters and select your adapter's name
• Right click the network adapter then select Properties.
• Select the Driver tab then Roll back driver.
• Restart your computer to apply the changes.

Might not be able to, most hardware/devices have their name or identity built in.

Just was curious, thought maybe you wanted to rename the Wi-Fi identification of a Router such as changing from Linksys or Cisco to MyHomePlace or Outhouse1.

 

You might be able to change the name of the company in the inf file.
I'm not sure how that might affect the network adapter in Win10. I had an older USB network adapter that I had to change the .inf so that it used a driver from the chip manufacturer, not the driver form the USB adapter maker.

Win7 & Win8 were fine with the change, but Win10 would not install it due to driver signing.

You can use device manager to determine the .inf file - on the details page, scroll down to inf

Make a copy of the original just in case you have to replace it.

Know that there is some risk of losing the function of the network adapter - do this at your own risk. I have not tested it.

Look first, think second, do third.

I do this all the time, just right click in the adapter list.
