  1. Changed hardware - windows not activated - bought and installed a new copy - still not...

Yesterday I upgraded my PC hardware Mobo, CPU, PSU, RAM, the works and Windows couldn't detect it was still the same system so it got deactivated. Last I checked my Windows license was connected to my Microsoft account so it should be possible to transfer it over but it didn't work after a couple of hours of trying so I figured I'd just buy a new copy instead of dealing with the hassle €145, retail from the Microsoft store. Just finished installing it a moment ago and it still says that my Windows is not activated Error code: 0x803F7001, and entering the Product Key I got with the purchase doesn't work either Error code: 0xc004f050. Can I just use the Operating System I just paid extortion prices for, please?

    :)

    windows activation—hardware changed siginficantly

From time to time on my thoroughbred PC, I get a Windows activation message that says my hardware changed siginificantly and I have to re-activate Windows. My hardware hasn't changed any more than a network card (went from a wireless g card to onboard lan to a wired network card), and the install is legit. Why is it doing this, and how can I stop it?

Hi BG. I'm Greg, an installation specialist, 10 years awarded Windows MVP, and Volunteer Moderator, here to help you.

You can transfer the Digital License if it was based on an underlying retail Product Key, but not factory preinstalled or builder's OEM which have never been allowed to move past the first motherboard. If it's purely retail then Support will help you move it
if you have the key and the Troubleshooter will not work to do this as shown here:

    https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/help/20530/...

As to the new Product Key which is assumed to be Genuine if you bought it from Microsoft Store, confirm at Settings > Update & Security > Activation that the correct version is installed, and then insert the key again at Change Product Key link, making sure
this time to proofread the key three separate times.

If it still won't activate then try again the next day, since Activation servers are frequently overloaded now that there are over a billion users and they can't build Server farms fast enough.

If that doesn't work by Monday, contact Microsoft Support on weekdays by one of these phone numbers:

    https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/help/405170...

    You can also go here:
    https://partner.support.services.microsoft.com/...
choose the link for Browser help, interact briefly with the robot about your exact problem. If you keep saying it didn't help it will connect you with an agent.

I hope this helps. Feel free to ask back any questions and keep me posted. If you'll wait to rate whether my post resolved your problem, I will keep working with you until it's resolved.
