Changed MB and CPU; Can't reactivate

I change my MB and CPU and now can't reactivate my Windows 10 Pro.

    The troubleshooter tells me:

"It looks like the hardware on this device has changed. Make sure you're connected to the Internet and try again later. 0xc0ea000a"

I AM connected to the internet obviously, since I'm posting here

Using the "I changed the hardware" option doesn't list the device I upgraded. However, the desktop is still listed under devices in my Microsoft Account.

In desperation, I even tried to buy a new license which I shouldn't have to do, but it would only let me upgrade to the Enterprise edition

I entered the product key under change the product key and got the Unable To Activate error.

It will not let me connect to MS customer support.

    I'm at wit's end.

    :)

  2. reactivating windows after changing the pc's CPU

I am having difficulty in reactivating windows after changing the pc's CPU

Prior to the change, I linked my digital licence to my MS Account

In my MSA I can see both versions of my PC listed, once with the old CPU and once with the new CPU

If I go to activation - troubleshoot- I changed hardware on this device recently, I can only select the old PC on which to activate windows

    Any help or ideas appreciated

  3. My computer is not present when reactivating Windows after changing the CPU

    Hi

I changed my HW today (from an i5-4690k to a Ryzen 7 2700) but I cannot reactivate my Windows copy. My PC is not present on the list while reactivating and my Microsoft account is connected. Also, this is the first time I change the CPU. What should I do?

  4. Changed MB and CPU; Can't reactivate

windows10 reactivation after changing mb, cpu etc

Hi John. I'm Greg, an installation specialist and 8 year Windows MVP, here to help you.

If Windows came pre-installed on the PC then changing the motherboard voids the license. Free Upgrade inherits that restriction. You'll need to buy a new license:

    http://www.microsoftstore.com/store/msusa/en_US...

If it was retail Windows then follow these steps for reactivating:
    https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/help/20530/...

You can also ask for help from MS Support to get it activated:
    https://partner.support.services.microsoft.com/...

I hope this helps. Feel free to ask back any questions and let us know how it goes. I will keep working with you until it's resolved.
