  1. Changed pagefile size and now the laptop won't boot up

    Hi,

I recently read a post about changing your pagefile size to increase performance.

    1.5xRAM and 4xRAM which for me was 12000 34000

I've tried to reset bios settings, use the cmd to change the pagefile size which gives an error of no instances running as well changing thru legacy and the other one.

I'm clueless to what to do and desperately need help as this is the work laptop.

Good to mention, even tried to reset the laptop while keeping personal information which failed too. Leaving it on "automatic repair" fails too and pops up a window to restart or to dive in troubleshoot options which ive all tried.

What the hell am I supposed to do here?

    :)

  2. Clear Pagefile on Shutdown

I've been looking into clearing the pagefile, and I found the following steps at a somewhat dated webpage:
    1. In the registry editor, navigate to: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Session Manager\Memory Management
    2. Set ClearPageFileAtShutdown to the REG_DWORD value of 1.
    3. Restart Windows.
I'm just wondering whether those steps are still valid, and, if so, does clearing the pagefile work as advertised?

I would like to note that step 20 comes up with no files. Perhaps this could be the source of the issues?

16GB ram - pagefile size question

This is what I do, but I prefer to set it to the max system managed size permanently, so that there is less disk thrashing when the pagefile needs to be increased in size. It seems that ahving the pagefile as one continuous file, rather than broken up on the drive as space allows, is optimal.

laptops with SSDs-only, no HDD, come with the pagefile enabled. You'd think if there was any real issue with pagefiles and SSD's, these lappy makers wold do things differently.
