When I turn the PC on it takes sometimes 10-15 minutes no idea what's going on here. When the PC is on it runs fine with no issues but if I turn it off in any way or need to for update. I tried to put in a Samsung Pro 990 then nothing was done with DP HDMI there are no direct-to-motherboard graphics so that's why I couldn't try that. After hours of trying stuff, I gave up put the old one in, and called it a day. Then the issue above where it takes forever to start comes in. Does anyone have any ideas cause im so lost here.

    :)

Boot new Alienware R12 from old PC's M.2 SSD as ext. Sabrent USB

Both the new and old PCs are v10.0.19043.1165. I want to also be able to boot from my old PC's onboard M.2 SSD (which was on my old tower I built) in addition to my normal R12's boot setup it came with. So I got a Sabrent USB enclosure for it. I can see all 4 disks in diskmgr, and can access them (to the extent that ACLs allow, in the case of the old PC disks - I'll have to deal with that after all this boot stuff): disk 1: new R12 C: boot disk 0: new R12 D: disk 3: old PC C: boot (ASUS Z170 mobo, Samsung 950 onboard M.2 NVMe SSD) disk 2: old PC D:

How do I get disk 3 to show up to boot from it? - I disabled Secure Boot - I did not find any Fast Boot/Ultra Fast Boot option to disable - disk 3 still does not show up on the F12 list - I did not try to convert disk 3 in any way, including using mbr2gpt.exe

  3. Can`t get my laptop to boot from m.2 SSd instead of old HDD

Hi fams, so basically today I recieved my order for my 240 Gb M.2 SSD, all nice and fancy. Everything alright with the installation, I own an 2018 HP OMEN-15, removed the battery, installed the ssd, cloned OS to ssd via Macrium Reflect, shut down the laptop, removed the battery again, removed the connection pin for the hdd, booted up right away from the ssd, then I went through reconnecting the pins for the HDD( didn`t format it because I have something on the C drive, some music plugins that I don`t really want to lose) but this time, it booted from hdd instead of ssd. I pressed F9 to open the boot order from bios, went on efi, selected the long name with pci then selected boot and it booted again from ssd but everytime i restart my laptop it boots by default from hdd. Any tips on how to get the ssd to be the default booting device without having to format my hdd? Thank you in advance!

Change boot drive from HD to SSD - drive name/letters issue

The SSD has a Recovery partition on the first partition. MS has changed the partitions order many years ago. This suggest that the computer is quite old or you migrate the SSD from an older computer. Lets rebuild the EFI partition of the SSD drive. Boot from the HDD Open a CMD window as administrator and type: diskpart list disk (it will list all drives. Identify the SSD drive number - (1?)) select disk n (replace n by the SSD drive number obtained with list disk- (1?)) list part (it will list all partitions. Identify the EFI partition number - (3?)) select part m (replace m by the EFI partition number - (3?)) format fs=fat32 quick label=EFI assign letter=w exit bcdboot E:\Windows /s W: /f UEFI diskpart select vol W remove letter=W exit exit Shut down, detach the HDD (SATA or power cable) enter BIOS and make sure the SSD boot manager is select as primary boot. If it boots to the SSD, shut down and attach the HDD. Boot from the SSD and clean the HDD (delete all partitions). To clean the HDD you can use Disk Manager or use diskpart. Open a CMD window as administrator and type: diskpart list disk (it will list all drives. Identify the HDD drive number (0?)) select disk n (replace n by the HDD drive number obtained with list disk (0?)) clean create part primary select part 1 format fs=ntfs quick assign letter=D exit (to exit diskpart)
