Changing default alias in windows 10 mail app

How do I change the default alias in the windows 10 mail app? I changed the default alias for my microsoft account and it messed up the mail app. Now I have separate folders for each address and the inboxes are linked in one folder, but I just want it so there is 1 set of folders. How do I do that?

    :)

  2. Outlook.com Default "From" address and Windows 10 Mobile email app

I have a problem with sending email from Windows 10 Mobile mail app. On my Microsoft account, I have an @outlook.com email address set as my primary alias, but I have an @gmail.com email address set as my default "From" address in the settings under "Your
email accounts." It is my understanding that with this setup all emails I send from my Outlook.com account will be from the @gmail.com alias, whether I send it from the Outlook.com website, my Windows 10 PC mail app, or from my Windows 10 Mobile phone mail
    app.

The problem is, the Windows 10 Mobile email app is not using the alias that I set as the default "From" address. It is currently using the primary alias, no matter what I set as the default "From" address. I even tried changing my default alias to the @gmail.com
alias, but that totally messed up the syncing of my Windows 10 Mobile email app, until I reset the primary alias back to the @outlook.com alias.

Additionally, the Windows 10 Mobile email app is displaying a deleted alias in the "From" field of new emails, although it does not actually send the email from that alias.

Since the current email app is crippled by not being able to specify the alias you want to send from, it is particularly important that it be able to properly send from the alias specified in Outlook.com as the default "From" address.

  3. SENDING EMAILS FROM AN ALIAS -- LIKE WIN 8

Thank you for your follow up. My comments concerned the MS WIN 8/10 mail apps.

From the web app you can switch the FROM among all your alias email ids. In addition, on the web app you can change the default email address which sets the default on the mail app on WIN 10. My problem is that on the WIN 10 mail app I cannot switch between
alias’s in the FROM. It is hard wired to whatever you set as the default on the web app. In the WIN 8 mail app, you could switch the FROM to among your alias’s by clicking on the MORE….

I need to change the FROM in the WIN 10 mail app. Assuming MS does not have or will not have this feature, then, I need to convert my alias’s to separate MS accts. My associates that receive my emails get confused when I send from a email they do not recognize.
It is too cumbersome for me to go back to a web application. Where do I go from here?

I don't want to remove the other email. I want to keep them going into the same inbox, but like how it was before. I had both emails going into one inbox and there were no duplicate folders or emails. Now the emails are going into their own folders, but being linked in one inbox.

Are both accounts listed as separate accounts in the Mail app when you open Settings -> Manage Accounts in Mail?

If so, then removing the old one should do what you want if both email addresses are aliases of your Microsoft account.
