    Changing default app for opening a csv file


    I cannot set excel as the default app to open csv files. I have gone through the process of trying to change the default in windows 10. The only options are notepad, wordpad or word. I have tried looking on microsoft 365 website for other apps and have failed to solve this one. Help please.

    CSV files used to open in Excel....not now!

    On a Windows 7 system that had Office 2007 installed and was then upgraded to Windows 10 it appears here...

    Excel not visible on list of applications that can be assigned as default app for csv files

    Hi

    I'm using win 10 and office 2016.

    By accident I assigned mytorrent as default file type to csv. When I want to change it back to Excel (xlsx), Excel is not on the liste I see in the different ways I've tried. I suppose Excel is the most obvious choice for csv.

    I have tried right clicking the file and selecting open with. Excel not an option.

    Then I have tried to change the program attachments (translated from danish). I'll check that csv should be opened by excel, but that only changes the default app from mytorrent to Notepad!

    How do I get excel to be the default app for csv?

    Can't change default program to open files.

    Hi,

    I'm trying to change the default program for .dwg files from Autocad to Draftsight.

    I already tried:

    • right click > open with > choose another app > always use this app. The file opens in Draftsight without problems, but it still opens with Autocad the next time you double click a dwg file.
    • settings > apps > default apps > choose default apps by file type. This also does not change the default method to Draftsight.

    When I type assoc .dwg in command prompt, it shows ".dwg=DraftSight.Drawing"

    I see some suggestions to try using the old interface through control panel, but it seems like control panel routes to the new interface.

    I also tried changing the association for .txt files from notepad to notepad++ and it doesn't work either.

    Any ideas?
