Windows 10: Changing destop icon size and overall layout while using scroll wheel. How to TURN THIS OFF??

I was reading a PDF and went to resize the font w/ my mouse .. but what happened was I totally blew up my desktop icons size and arrangement. It's a mess. Having been on Windows since day 1, this was a first. When did this FEATURE get added? And is there a way to turn if off? With all the other uses of mouse scrolling, this is NOT an accident I want waiting to happen again.

In addition, to cbwilsha's suggestion for changing Desktop Icons size, this also works with File Explorer to change layout view. See below.

To Change Folder View Layout with Mouse Scroll Wheel
1. Go to your desktop, or open a folder in File Explorer you want to change the view layout of its content.

2. Press and hold the Ctrl key and roll your mouse scroll wheel forward or backward until you have the view layout you want, and release the Ctrl key.

no cappacity to change icon, text size in menus, palettes etc

To change these sizes, you would now use the options under here:

• Right-click desktop and choose display settings
• Scroll down to "scale and layout" and use the options in that section

To change icon sizes, you can actually do something similar to zooming in and out on webpages and documents. That is, click the icon once, then hold down the Ctrl key while you scroll your mouse. It will adjust the icon sizes.

 

Readjust app icon size without modifying explorer layout

I only want to increase the icon size of all apps (games to be specific), without changing it from the Details View layout. I can select Large Icon or Medium Icon View Layout but that makes everything in a lined order over the screen from the left of the screen to the right of the screen. I want it to be vertical like it is now in Details View or List View.

Also, I can't increase the overall Windows App scale because I also have other applications/software which will be affected by that setting.

Can you please tell me if it is possible to achieve larger icon sizes while keeping all files in vertical order (like in Details or List View)?
