Windows 10: Changing from Build 2004 to Build 1909

I just downloaded the iso file for windows 1909 and when I opened the media creation tool it said that I had no choice but to delete all my files. Is there a way that I can keep my files and settings or do I need to put it on a usb? Thank you.

Here is how to upgrade to version 2004

Way 1. Open Settings>Update & Security>Windows Update

Way 2. Go to https://microsoft.com/en-us/software-download/windows10 then download the Windows 10 Upgrader App

Rolling back to build 1909 fixes the problem (again) so the issue is definitely build 2004. I had already run through Microsoft's suggestions (you know, its someone else's problem). All drivers are updated. I think that I would have gotten more help from
a drunken orangutan than any Microsoft "assistants". Thanks for the reply but I don't think there is a fix for the multitude of 2004 problems. At least until they hire that drunken orangutan. Basically a vent/warning. DO NOT INSTALL BUILD 2004, unless
you have a lot of time to waste fixing what wasn't broke but is now.
