Is there a way to change the name of the licensed user from "Windows User" to my name?

In Vista, by default, it used to say my name, if I remember correctly, and probably in Windows 7 too...

  2. WINVER Windows 10.586.3

    Hi Rickie,

Thank you for contacting Microsoft community.

It is the license agreement which is agreed by users that they use Microsoft product. For more information I suggest you to follow the below steps and check if it helps.

    • Press “Windows+R”.

    • Type “winver”.

    • You will get the pop up screen about the Windows 10 license, there I suggest you to click on
“Microsoft software license terms” and go through the policy terms and check.
Hope this information was helpful and do let us know if you need further assistance. We will be glad to assist.

    1. Go to Settings.
    2. Choose Accounts and then select Family and other users.
    3. Select add someone else on this PC.
    4. Enter a user name and hit next.
    5. Click on Finish.
    6. Sign out from the current Account and Log into the new account.
    Step 3:

  4. Kreij Win User

    Changing licensed user in winver

Current active users that are friends

The other reason I suggested this is that users can add characters to their username that are not alphanumeric (e.g. user*). This confuses things somewhat when looking at the list.
