Follow the steps below:

For Windows 10:

  Select the start button, and then type
  Default app settings
  
• 
  In the search results, select default app settings
  
• 
  Under web browser, select the browser currently listed and then select Mozilla fire fox or another browser
  

For Windows 7, 8.1:

• 
  Go to control panel
  
• 
  In the search box, located on the upper right corner
  type Default programs
  
• 
  Click on Default programs
  
• 
  Click on Set your default program
  
• 
  Click on Mozilla Firefox
  
• 
  Click on Set this program as default
  
• 
  Click Ok

I have tried to change the Windows 10 web browser using the method that is often spelt out on the internet i.e.

1) In the "Cortana" search box at the bottom left of the screen enter "change default web browser";

2) In the list that appears I select "Choose a default web browser";

3) On the "Settings" screen I select "Default apps";

3) I then selected Internet Explorer from the list in the Web browser selection box.

However, as is so often the case with these so called solutions it does not work. Surprise! Surprise! Surprise! I am at the point where in "Settings" my "Web browser" is displayed as "Internet Explorer" which is what I want. However, by default Edge always
opens up. Does anyone know a method to use to change the default web browser in Windows 10 to Internet Explorer that actually works?
