    Changing taskbar transparency in 2020


    So for a long time now ive wanted my taskbar more transparent, it may be all in my head but i swear its getting more soft with each update. ive tried methods praised by other users online mainly referring to This method but it seems the registry entrys are changed now so those old methods don't work. If anyone knows of another way to achieve this that would be awesome! I'm not afraid to get my hand dirty with windows i know my way around it to a degree where i wont break anything lol.

    Hi Dan,

    Thank you for posting your query in Microsoft Community.

    Sorry for the inconvenience caused. I will surely assist you with this.

    I would suggest you to change the desktop themes and check if you are able to see the transparent taskbar.

    If that doesn't help I would suggest you to end the explorer.exe and restart it and see if you are able to see the transparent taskbar.

    Please follow the steps below to restart explorer.exe:

    stop and start Explorer.exe


      • Right click on the taskbar and select task manager.

      • In the process Right click on windows explorer and end the task

      • Restart the task by clicking on the file and select new task

      • Type Explorer.exe and press enter.
    And see if it helps.

    Delay in background change in Taskbar when Taskbar is set Transparent

    With the background set to slide show the background theme changes on the taskbar about 1 second after it changes on the rest of the screen. Can it be syncronized so they change at the same time?
