    Over the period of time I have had my desktop pc four years i think my windows has been corrupt,technically i find things difficult but i would say I am above average to the normal user. Most of the time I have over the years just kept files and reinstalled windows but been heavily advised to do clean install to overcome infection. Last week it got to the point where no recovery[system restore and other options blanked out] happened numerous times. No search possible by start windows with it collapsing. Internet explorer and edge legacy collapsing. and when uninstalling edge chromium through difficulties. Not possible to reinstall unless using a download edge option but wont do it from microsoft edge website. So was advised to buy a flash drive 32gb 11 and two installation attempts custom to overcome issue,which did not do . so picked out certain files and transferred over to this flash drive and then advised to buy another flash drive with windows on to reinstall. Next step was to format my cdrive and wiped all the partitions and microsoft reinstalled windows but after logging into my microsoft account my cdrive had a few files put in and immediately cd drive had something back in it. Now im back to square one with my microsoft edge legacy once again just a blue square in default options and edge chromium showing installed last year how is that possible with a proxy version too. So im back onto microsoft who deleted that edge and then found could not reinstall again and all the previous happenings again[could have bought a new pc and brought this over] so she set up a new profile and yet another custom reinstallation of windows [rolleyes] and my system restore is down again. Ive not owned my pc properly and having given microsoft permission to wipe my pc, its unbelievable this again happens. my one drive has no program files on it but log into my account and all the gremlins are following me Anyone with very high tech understanding please give any feedback? version 20h2 build 19042 964 acer Aspire xc-780 pc At one point would not let me play my favourite radio station and also images not showing on facebook edge too at times in facebook but not case on firefox or opera Also had high cpu and about 16 copies of edge pop up and in details lots of suspended stuff

    I watched microsoft support wipe the partitions and drives i sacrificed and then do a windows install...How on earth do i have a version of edge on my pc from 1st aug 2020 after doing that?

    Attached is a windows iso file they created microsoft on my flash drive and it seems old

    Seems this has to be wiped and new iso file from here? As Im new to flash drives do I just format back to fat32?

    I've just deleted that and used option 1 and it has put exactly same thing to my flash disk. This means i download to my pc again will be same corrupt version yet again *Sad

    Even creating an iso file with option unticked creates same windows install that will be another dodgy version

    Getting any Microsoft support is unusual.
    - How did you contact them?
    - How did you know it was them not some imposter?

    The problems you describe should not persist after a reinstallation of Windows using the methods I outlined.

    Please list any symptoms that did.
    - You never need to "wipe" your PC. Installing Windows does everything for you.
    - Your initial post refers to a host of issues that could only relate to events later on rather than after a reinstallation.
    - I do not know why you mention uninstalling Edge. Do not do this.
    - I do not know why you mention your CD drive.
    - I do not know why you mention downloading Edge. Edge [Chromium] is installed as part of Windows.
    - If you install Windows whilst not connected to the internet then you'll be able to just create a "local" user account which is a much simpler thing than an MSAccount-linked user account. You can worry about adding that later if you need its facilities.
