  1. Chinese input method show traditional Chinese characters rather than Simplified ones.

I installed Microsoft Pinyin and it shows that Chinese character library is for Mainland China (where the simplified Chinese characters are used).

However every time I entered pinyin, the corresponding characters popped up are traditional Chinese characters.

below is what is shown on the toolbar, which clearly identifies the lib is simplified chinese.

and here is what is shown when trying to enter the pinyin, which shows selection of traditional chinese.

Windows displaying Chinese traditional characters even though the input method is Chinese simplified

I am using Windows home 10, Version 10.0.17134 Build 17134. Seems to have the above problem recently. Previously the Chinese character output were all simplified when I was using Chinese (Simplified, China) Microsoft Pinyin. For some reason,
it now shows the characters as traditional characters and no matter what I tried, it is still in traditional characters. What needs to be done to get it back to simplified characters?

    Chinese input method

It was requested in 2011. Simply put, there is a variety of methods to write Chinese. The 3 most common ones are Traditional, Simplified and Pinyin. Then, you have different ways to input these 3 forms which translate in different keyboards. You can handwrite,
use a radical based keyboard, or a bopomofo or as changjie input. One of the most common ways is pinyin for both simplified and traditional Chinese. Pinyin alllows you to use a qwerty keyboard to type the Romanized form of a Chinese character displaying the
character. It exists for both simplified and traditional Chinese. It is standard in all major devices and OS. This was requested by a variety of users in all the proper places since 2011 and Microsoft never implemented it. How can you let users buy so expensive
devices without then allowing them to type in their own languages is beyond me.

Traditional Chinese pinyin keyboard in window 10

How to HanYuPinYin to input Traditional Chinese in Windows 10?

step 1: In Windows 10 , go to "settings"; "Time &" Language"; "Region & Language"; "Add a language"; "Chinese (Simplied)".

please note: the (Simplified) includes the Traditional words.

Step 2: under the "Language", select "中文(中华人民共和国)“;”Options“; ”Keyboards“;select ”Microsoft Pinyin“;”options“。

Step 3:under ”Microsoft PinYin“, select”Character sets”, choose A character sets from (simplified Chinese) to (Traditional Chinese). The job is done!

Please note: Although you can use this method to input hanyupinyin and get the traditional Chinese characters, but if you need to switch to Simplified Chinese, you have to go to the step 3 again and change the Character Set from Traditional Chinese to the
Simplified Chinese. I hope Microsoft or its developers can add some patch to fix it so that in the future, users can easily switch language from English or Chinese Traditional or Chinese Simplified modes.

Some other people suggested to use HongKong Traditional Chinese and bopomofo keyboard, but you can not select the candidite font (同音字)。I think Microsoft engineer may fix this bug in the future.
